Your feedback would be welcomed! Motorists, cyclists or road safety advocates...

If there is a crime, you report to the police. Everyone knows that. You also haven't read that this won't be just for reporting flat tyres. That was an example.
I meant the concept of an app that engages with the public to report matters of concern, not yours that doesn't get close to the first rule of sales.......
'To sell Joe Bloggs what Joe Bloggs buys, see Joe Bloggs through Joe Bloggs eyes'.

Shoplifters are not smart people, else they wouldn't need to resort to crime.
They are smart enough to know that dialling 999 will not bring about an immediate response from the Police. Smart enough to work in gangs so as not to arouse suspicion by repeat offending.

But reporting this via Motify would do what? We're not going down the route of reporting crime to the police. We can help with alerts to help with eyes looking out for any reported thefts. This to help reduce police time, as well the person it belongs to.

101 for reporting crime that isn't taking place right now, or to provide info which may help.

We have no way of confirming or verifying if such reports are legitimate, could waste police resources, costing taxpayers more money and time taken away from reports made directly to them, where details can be taken, logged and they determine what level of response is required.

That is out of our remit and quite frankly, a bad idea. The repercussions of launching such a platform allowing false criminal reports to be submitted.

So many people have grudges, and want to do things to spite people.

"I know, I'll report that I saw their car at the time and location of a reported burglary so the police turn up, just to give them a scare" and find this person has a concrete alibi and no ANPR hits anywhere covering that period. It's us who become responsible for this.

Where is the logic?

Police don't turn up for stolen cars or burglary or shoplifting, for that matter.

Reporting some Scrote smashing a window or knicking wheels would be a useful thing for Motify. At least the owner would be aware.

"smashed window" is one of the 40+ issues we have listed. It's shown in mock ups we created.

If you see it happen, it's a crime to report to the police. There is an "additional information" box to use when reporting if required.

So why haven’t you got a demo up and running for people to play with. Ask @NickGrogan if you can have the one he created. I did a similar exercise and got a working plugin that does much of what you want.

I said report to the company not the Police, and I'm talking about my new app, not yours🤣
Staff member sees thief walking out with unpaid for goods. Whilst seeking out the manager to let him know, customer or customers covertly spot which vehicle they think the wrongun's get into. They say most shoplifters are repeat offenders and across several sightings across several shops a picture could be built up.
You report to the Company. If the same vehicle reg comes up a few times with some ANPR you could possibly pre-empt a thieving spree.

You stated they don't turn up, I stated they do depending on criteria.

You then provide a link proving that they do turn up, but to around 30%, which backs up my statement, not yours?

I never said all, but you said they don't turn up.

So, largely down to police shortages, reporting what could be false reports to the police will help how?

Dashcam footage, video doorbells, CCTV, other tech can assist in reducing the need for police attendance in many circumstances.

Facts and sources. More useful than vague statements and imaginary scenarios
You made a statement that "police do not turn up", not "police rarely turn up" or "police do not attend all reported".

Do not = 0

You then contradicted yourself with a link which backed up my response that they do, depending on certain criteria.

You didn't state a fact - you then provide a source to prove that it wasn't a fact.

I'm not sure what you want me to say here.

So, do police sometimes attend, or do they not?

As you gave no criteria other than a jewellery robbery, your statement is meaningless. Yes police will turn up if the police chief's car is stolen, great news. But for most people, no they wont turn up.

I replaced my hyperbole and your imagined scenario with facts and a source. Now anyone can read and decide for themselves if they think the police will turn up for them.

Why are you so keen to debate things unrelated to Motify?

There was a reply suggesting using Motify to report crime. I tried to quash the idea and gave reasons why.

I have also given reasons as to why police attend less nowdays, due to technology we now use.

Telematics is another way to track down vehicles. Motify can help locate with vehicles without it, and bicycles. We know it won't be useful for ALL vehicles, but that doesn't merit removing this as a feature.

Going slightly more back on topic.... genuinely, how do you expect to generate (or how did you expect to generate) interest in this crowdfunder?

Your social profile consists of a Facebook page with absolutely zero likes or followers, and the attempts at promotion on there seem to have been putting one post on then hopefully tagging some vaguely motoring-related businesses in the hope they latch onto it (they won't). And an Instagram page with 3 followers and 4 posts.

You've posted on here, got a largely negative reaction but you seem to believe that's because we're all wrong and your idea is right.

So what IS the plan for the crowdfunder?

And, one point not mentioned anywhere in the Crowdfunder at all... what is the £3750 being raised for?

I will respond to one thing - read where it says what the funds will be used for.

Why not the other (genuine) question?

Apologies, I did find this;

Our project target would contribute towards the development, including aesthetics and user interface, backend, databasing and more, partly based on feedback by those participating in the testing phase.

The imagery above is not the final product, but the general concept.

25% of the funds raised over our target will be split equally between:-

www.iamroadsmart.com - I Am Roadsmart

rvtrust.org.uk - Road Victims Trust

cyclinguk.org - We Are Cycling UK

britishmotorcyclists.co.uk - British Motorcyclists Federation

bikeability.org.uk - Bikeability

The actions should be in keeping with normal practice which as a former retail manager many years ago, requires a high level of certainty.

Staff member sees thief walking out with unpaid for goods. Whilst seeking out the manager to let him know, customer or customers covertly spot which vehicle they think the wrongun's get into. They say most shoplifters are repeat offenders and across several sightings across several shops a picture could be built up.
This could have some legs, let managers report problems, and notifications go out to all shops/similar shops within a mile - using postcode to track.

Managers have an incentive to report and respond as there is a direct cost to the business, I guess insurance doesn't cover all losses. Otherwise, premiums would be crazy.

I could be wrong. Can any shop owners confirm?

What would you call it?

Vigilante and Batman are both taken.

I would say most retailers keep a record of all shoplifting cases even if no arrests made but stock is lost to them. again a lot of town centre "watch groups" ie the likes of Town Safe collect this data and pass to the police otherwise there is no "true record" of the number of incidents especially when police are not doing the paper work

Certainly back in the day the shopping centres I was involved with would collect the data on behalf of all the retailers to pass on to the local Town Safe groups and the Police themselves. I was always pretty shocked at the lack of data the police had

I also don't think retailers can get cover for shoplifting if they can pretty sure the costs would be astronomical one for @Frank the Insurance guy

There was someone on UKBF launched an app for retailers to report incidents to each other. Can’t recall the name but despite claims of massive potential it never really took off.

Don't surprise me really almost every other month someone use to rock up to a town centre with some new fangled app or the other always fell flat on its face when they mentioned the monthly subscription fees. Your average local retailer at best will sign up to a Town Safe / Town Watch scheme where they get a radio and become part of a group and even then some had to rely on the big boys backing it.

One Town Centre I was heavily involved with in a past life the local BID group actually gave the MET Police 100k a year (probably 200k these days) just to have a policeman in the town centre, and when he / she seemed to spend a lot of time in court and not out pounding the hughstreet you wondered if it was really worth it

I wasn't thinking of charging a fee; there's no need.

£100k for a cop who ain't there doesn't sound good.

Was a general statement not aimed at you in anyway. I do feel for the retailers not a career (if i was young enough) would ever think of going back into.

I have read and can’t see it.
Then I can't help you there. It was under the "How will funds be used" section. Sorry you missed it.

Anyway, the purpose of the crowdfunder was so those who provide "Extra funding" could take a look and come back to us. They have now done so, advised us and we'll amend.

There were Town Watch or something similar launched, and some BID groups launched some. It worked to some extent, but radios going off constantly, customers felt like they were being watched constantly.

Clicked "show content", very presumptuous comment by that user. Nothing in relation to "advice I should have taken on here" or in relation to anything posted on here.

It was all part of a plan, and we have feedback now from some parties we are engaging with as to our next steps.

Ah yes that great plan of launching a crowdfunder, not promoting it and then pulling it a few days later after getting zero interest…your a marketing genius
