Your feedback would be welcomed! Motorists, cyclists or road safety advocates...

Which is why I said your approach was wrong. You need to make direct contact with the clubs. You will get far more traction.

I posted on my car club forum and nobody would pay for the app. Even if it were free interest was minimal. A common comment was the chances of both parties having the app was tiny.

I may have misread one of your posts but I thought you said you had people ready to donate to your crowdfunder.
Interesting response indeed.

How come you were allowed to post it in the forum and the thread not be deleted? Are you a mod or are they more tolerant on there?

But with the plan we have in place, numbers will be high so the chance both will have it is high.

It was in the members area - I didn’t post as a promotion, just asked for feedback.

Also emailed another car club I’m a member of and they said they would consider a members offer if you made contact.

We have our monthly meeting in Tuesday so I’ll mention the app and see what happens…

I'm happy to discuss all manner of options, just as a member of your same forum, couldn't see any of your posts after a date in 2023, nor in any of the threads since yesterday afternoon, so I can't see this feedback you mentioned.

You have to be a paid up member of the car club to see the posts.

A quick photo, entering the Reg, you could continue to do this in 30 seconds walking down the road.

The whole system requires drivers to allow themselves to be identified and contactable based on their registration number, will many want that?

That's great, so you have identified one clear need and/or useful scenario.

In this particular instance, it seems the vehicle was parked outside the property. Not everyone has a driveway, nor can park directly outside their property. How do you inform them, knock on 20 nearby houses? Leave a note under the wiper blade for them to see when returning to the vehicle they'll most likely be getting into potentially several hours later, or days later for non-frequent users?
And each time you have to go down another avenue of “what ifs” and “but in another situation” you’re simply narrowing down the number of useful instances. As I say, a million drivers is 2.5% of UK licence holders. Let’s take the kind of scenario above.

- what % of drivers on any given day accidentally leave their window open
- what % of those that do that, to your point, are parked off a driveway/away from their house
- what % of drivers that leave their window open and have parked away from their house have Motify?
- what % of UK drivers that leave their window open and have parked away from their house and have motify have a considerate neighbour or dog walker that also has Motify?

Consider the above, what tiny fraction of a % are you left with?

And you’ll probably respond with “it’s not just open windows, it’s x/y/z”….. doesn’t really matter. The relative number of instances that you mention from boots or windows left open or flat tyres gone unnoticed is still tiny and will be continually hampered by the fact that you simply won’t get enough conscientious users using the app to make it worthwhile or feasible.

The problem simply isnt big enough to warrant the solution you propose.

Reports can be flagged if misused. Accounts can be closed.

Also, no personal details disclosed to others. Hence contact via account numbers/reg/ID numbers.

Maximises privacy, safety and security.

On here, we can communicate by usernames. Same as other platforms - Twitter/X, Instagram etc.

I have the luxury of being bored on a sun lounger today so I found your Facebook page and link to the PDF, which I read.

It’s full of so many menial things to fill text and sound like benefits which simply aren’t. And/or things that just arent going to excite a vast majority.

“We’ll invite a number of testers that back us to participate in this phase” - why on earth would anyone want to pay to become your product tester?

“We’ll update you by email every two weeks” why? About what? What do I want to keep hearing about?

“Limited edition merchandise pack” - why on earth would I want to walk around in a bright pink t-shirt claiming “I’m an original backer of motify”? I don’t. Or a mug - branded mugs are ten a penny. And I certainly don’t want a garish pink and yellow sticker in my car! As mentioned, the logo is horrible, by the way.

Absolutely nothing smacks me in the face about what is in this crowdfunder or product for me. Nothing to get me excited and desperate to part with my cash. It’s just waffle and minutaie, at this point going into the specifics of what it’ll cost me for a new key fob if I lose it, how you’ll email me to confirm my t shirt size, or how I’ll be able to upload pictures to my account! Sell me something interesting, exciting, or with value to me.

You’re also trying to cover a huge, and frankly confusing, number of bases. You’re an app that’s going to reward people for reporting things, improve road safety, give funds to community projects, also run your own community vehicles with trained mechanics, use these to train other mechanics, the service is for individuals with cars, cyclists with cycles, businesses with fleets, councils to repair roads and traffic lights….. I mean, come on! It’s pie in the sky stuff.

I’d also suggest you get your story straight as in posts above you claim this will be going ahead regardless of the crowdfunder (and if you’re in a position to do so and are ready to go signing up millions of users as quickly as you say, then I’ve no idea what difference £3500 will make). However in the deck you claim “it’s important that we reach at least 50% of our project target in the first 3 days”. So which is true?

Look, I know criticism and negativity is hard to take and this probably looks like I’m going all in to attack. But honestly, please stop, think, and assess and save yourself a lot of wasted time and money. I refer you back to “flowsignal”…. See if you can find any trace of that anywhere?

People who back receive the reward and also become testers - thousands of crowdfunders offer this or similar "VIP" type access to prelaunch development. It gives them a sense of being part of the project. Research it.

It's advisable to keep backers updated regularly with progress. In a sense, they become investors. Keeping their interest and being part of a "club" that others are not assists in securing backers. Research this.

As mentioned in the project preview - development mode currently and testers would provide feedback on things including aesthetics - Sorry if you missed that.

The "number of bases" covered - so we can help improve road safety ourselves and help others to do so also, whilst supporting victims of road related events, and those who need assistance getting about. What is negative about this? Many businesses have their own foundations to support others using donations from customers and their own profits. Would you like me to name some?

Reaching a certain milestone by a certain date encourages others to get pledging also. This is true.

Same goes for product sales, petitions...

No money is being wasted. I use my free time.

Sorry but a story about an open boot and waiting around for 10 minutes until the owner arrived started this?

Most normal people would have just closed the boot and got on with their day.

Again the saviour complex comes into play..look at me, look what I did, aren’t I the best…now give me money..

How’s the crowdfunder coming on. Must be nearly funded with all the interest and marketing you have done

I tell a lie, I do remember one. A couple of months ago I was walking my dog on my regular route in the evening and I saw someone had left their car window open. It was going dark but I thought perhaps they had just pulled up on the drive to nip inside for something. Continued my walk and on the way back 45 mins later it was still open, by which point it was dark, starting to drizzle, not to mention there’s been a wave of car crime in the area. So I did think “they probably need to know about that”.

In the absence of an app to pull out and report it to them…… I just knocked on the door and let them know.
No pictures on social media, no selfie with the open window or car owner?

Didn't happen :D

Waiting in the hospital so did a bit of investigation.

There is already a Motify app on the Play Store.

There is a react function called Motify.

It's a term used in biochemistry.

It's a service delivery company in South Africa.

I'm assuming the company run by Daniel is the right one. If so the two SIC are very odd choices.

Wouldn't this App be better aimed at Neighbourhood watch or criminality such as shoplifting?
Those with a moral compass on spotting a light fingered tea leaf wheeling out a trolley full of drink without paying, covertly recording the registration number of the getaway vehicle and forwarding it to Sainsbury's, Tesco's etc., A personal dashcam if you like?

Observation from my wife. Everything published by Motify has headings and buttons and whatever formatted to look like a UK numberplate. Which doesn't apply in the rest of the world.

Problems if you accuse the wrong person, so probably not a good idea.

Is it any different to informing the Police. The actions should be in keeping with normal practice which as a former retail manager many years ago, requires a high level of certainty.

Staff member sees thief walking out with unpaid for goods. Whilst seeking out the manager to let him know, customer or customers covertly spot which vehicle they think the wrongun's get into. They say most shoplifters are repeat offenders and across several sightings across several shops a picture could be built up.

If you only let store managers report then yes, it could be ok

But if you let customers report suspected wrong uns seen putting stuff in cars, you're opening a can of worms.

Yeah, the issues don't require police attendance nor to be informed, barring perhaps stolen vehicles, where Motify will assist in addition to.

However, like I did in the past, called 101 due to an open boot, used up police time when perhaps may not have needed to if I send report and user confirms.

ANPR for vehicles with police, visuals through Motify users.

Shoplifting is a crime, that involves police. Not what this platform is for.

There are crime reporting apps/platforms, police and neighbourhood watch.

This won't be for "grassing" on people. Equally, many shops have cameras inside and out, and street CCTV assists police, too.

He's been told this, and more already.

OP, you need to chiose a different name. Whilst you're at it, get the .co.uk and .com domains.

You may not want to hear them, but there are very good reasons why you are being told this.

You report to the Company. If the same vehicle reg comes up a few times with some ANPR you could possibly pre-empt a thieving spree.

Your concept of reporting could be put to a better use - reporting crime, not a flat tyre.

That attempt to engage with everybody and make it easy to report?

Make your mind up. First you say there are crime reporting platforms, then you talk of 'grassing'?🤣
Shoplifters look for blind spots, pull their hoodies up and park away from street CCTV where possible

If there is a crime, you report to the police. Everyone knows that. You also haven't read that this won't be just for reporting flat tyres. That was an example.

Shoplifters are not smart people, else they wouldn't need to resort to crime. Park out of sight of camera, but during the time of the crime, and cameras 100 metres down the road - using timelines and directions of travel, you put this together, you can use other tech to locate a vehicle - return to owner if stolen, or identify owner if not stolen.

Make my mind up? This comment makes no sense. Others replied suggesting without reading first that it would just be used for grassing - when it isn't. I never said anything about using Motify to grass on people - others misunderstood the purpose.

Let's clear this up.

It isn't about not wanting to hear them.

10+ years ago, maybe 15, before apps were so widely used, domains would be more important.

People won't really be googling us. Why?

1. details will be on stickers and fobs on vehicles, bikes or keys found
2. users who have subscribed will mostly be using the app, 95%+ - no need for .co.uk or .com
3. users who have subscribed will have seen the domain, or scan QR code, in the welcome pack posted to them
4. worst case scenario, google "motify vehicle reporting" or similar - it isn't an issue
5. users who have subscribed will most likely have their keys with them with info on including "motify.world" - although 95%+ will have the app on their phone

If our domain name will be provided to subscribers or regular users, why focus on getting certain domains?

If the vast majority will be using the app, why the need for specific domains?

Also, you can't buy something not available for purchase. Someone tried that already with a .uk domain we "own" and thought they would backorder it. It was auto renewed back in November.

gofile(DOT)io/d/tK9Zqf

Correct me if I am wrong, it does say November 2025, right? Unless I have missed something.

Email hello@ - see what happens.

Weirdly ChatGPT paid more than $15M for chat.com

Given everyone uses the app or goes to chatgpt.com, not sure if they got good value.
We're not going to pay GoDaddy a £95 brokerage fee so when one of the domains last registered through them becomes available, they try to extort us because they know we want it.

They'll claim the current owner would seek a sum of £10k upwards, but the current registered "owner" wouldn't see 10% of that.

£95 of free money for them.
