Local Restrictions? What a Joke..

No chance we are at the plateau yet

We will be 10,000 cases plus within a month like Spain and France. And hospitals filling up like in those countries at well

We just follow them. As I keep saying it's all very predictable

Covid is nationwide again and out of control

Sadly

Sadly you have reverted to type - oh well your missus was right - you are a control freak.

Bitter because your losing the Sweden argument and you can’t control it.? Or moody like a little kid because Forest lost.

Well go on we are all waiting - what’s your solution or the way you see us moving forward?

Bet your a right laugh on a night out.

You've got me all wrong James

You have to recognise a problem to deal with a problem

I realised what we were facing months ago. It's not going to go away. We have to adapt and deal with it. It's not going away and social distancing not going away.

So I've made lots of changes to how I earn an income and way of life etc and am prepared for dealing with this for foreseeable future

I'm content and happy and enjoying more family than ever

Solutions for the bigger picture. I don't have. All I can control is looking after myself and my family within what we face.

You would like things back to normal how they were. I would as well.

Only difference between you and I really is Ive already given up on things being back to normal for a long time.

Please let me know where you think this is going? Please explain why this makes sense over a virus with a 99.96% surivial rate.

Also just to clarify from the 21st to the 27th of September the cases need to be above 3000 a day or your off here forever? So one day at 2999 for example that’s it your off the forum as promised? I will miss you.

I noticed it has dropped today (I think) about 3300.

I said they will average 3,000 plus per day didn't I?

It's going to be somehwere on here. Can't be arsed to look back though.

Ps that survival rate you said above James is bound to be bollox and one of the hoax conspirator ways of counting the deaths but l can't be arsed to look at that either

4.422 cases today James

Highest total in last 4 months

It's out of control again

Lots of problems in London again according to the Mayor of London

One of the posters on here told us to keep an eye on London and New York as both places won't have another surge as they've already got herd immunity!!

Same as Sweden's already got it despite the fact most of Sweden have avoided each other for 6 months

Remember cases aren’t ill people. Very important to remember that.

Sorry missed your answer ‘if the cases are under 3000 on any day from the 21st to 27th inclusive you are off here forever? Yes or No..

It really isn’t.

As I mentioned above, we’ve had 14 recorded cases out of 95,000 In my area since the 1st September - that’s less than one a day - so we should be able to keep on doing what we’re doing now as it’s obviously working.

Thats less than 1 in 95,000 per day, so there is no justification in locking our area down any further. I imagine many other rural counties are the the same.

Once again, the figure in isolation isn’t very useful. And the trend is very hard to predict. Nobody anywhere has got it right.

Every other time you have predicted something it has failed to materialise.

"Ok I will predict we are averaging over 3,000 plus new cases a day minimum by 3rd week in September latest

Or I will never post in the forum again

It's not hard to see what's happening and coming our way"

How many, and compared to what?

I’ve seen a handful on the news, but that’s sensationalised.

What are the real numbers that you speak of?

I personally know 2 people with it. And it's way more worrying that this would happen to me or my wife than actually thinking we will die from Covid. Increasingly the UK population will know either people who have died or people with Long Covid

The 50 year old ish lady I know (amateur triathlete) was able to go upstairs by herself for the first time 2 weeks ago. She has to do it backwards on her bottom one step at a time. Trust me I couldn't make that up!!

There are suggestions in the Media that Boris himself is struggling with after effects still. Article from Independent below:

Whether or not Mr Johnson is still struggling is unconfirmed but the long-term impacts of coronavirus are increasingly noted by experts and survivors. A study released on 20 August found nearly three quarters of coronavirus patients admitted to hospital suffer ongoing symptoms three months later - many were unable to carry out daily tasks such as washing, dressing or going back to work, the study found.

On 7 September, a study reported up to 60,000 people in the UK have been suffering from long-Covid for more than three months.

So what is long-Covid and why does it happen to some patients and not others?

What is long-Covid?
The term long-Covid (also known as long-haul or long-tail) is not an official medical term. It is used by people suffering symptoms of the virus for longer than the official WHO-endorsed two week period, which is meant to be long enough for the virus to come and go

And the worrying thing to date is the doctors have no idea how to treat long Covid

And it seems to be impacting middle aged people and younger

It's not the elderly that are most at risk from long covid

This looks at the hospital admissions data from August (when it started going up IMO as a result primarily of the weather and secondarily of further infection).

The charts are adjusted to have the peak value at the same point (1000 on the chart). That makes it easier to consider the "curve". I have not tried to fit any formula to any data.

Looking at this I would argue that it is only really the North East that might be exponential, but that is also showing signs of a reduction in the first derivative with respect to time.

The pattern of hospitalizations on that graph are very clearly on the up.

You can't discount the clear pattern when the odd day has a drop

And we know that deaths follow hospitalizations in due course

As I keep saying it's all very predictable

And it's not all about death rates it's also about our hospitals being able to cope with the influx of new patients

We have a long autumn and winter ahead

We were lucky that when Covid came the first time we had passed half of the winter already

The next few months are going to be very difficult for everybody

I did predict that there would be more hospitalisations in the autumn/winter because this is a coronavirus which behaves that way. The issue is whether this is exponential or not. It is not in all regions apart from the North and the NE looks most like exponential, but it also looks like the first derivative respect to time is possibly reducing in the NE. That implies it will all plateau in the next couple of weeks.

Just moving back to 'Business' for a moment - Do you sell that as a Wallpaper Pattern?

I am happy to put the copyright in the public domain. I don't, however, think it works as a wall paper pattern as it does not repeat.
Not a problem, I have REEMS of Primavera Project Damagement print-outs that I use for the same purpose! - No Repeat Pattern is necessary!

The system is severely flawed! I live in Birmingham with a Birmingham postcode but because my bins are collected from Dudley council I'm not in lockdown. Although I'm grateful for it, to me it doesn't make sense that Dudley isn't also in lockdown

It should be regardless of the lockdowns to be honest.

(Joke)

Mate the government is flawed let alone the system.

Go live your life the happiest and best you can as that’s what they hate most.

See you in London Saturday I hope.

How quickly things move on! With a 6 month lockdown of sorts now begun, it all looks very different.

Or perhaps not - nothing has changed where I am (not in the UK), but the creeping economic difficulty is claiming a lot of businesses. A lot. And that is a tide that is going to come right up to the promenade no matter what anyone does, local, national, international or otherwise.

According to the latest stats the number of Covid cases per 100,000 population in Birmingham is over three times that of Dudley

You pay your council tax to Birmingham? Or Dudley?
Then that's who should be providing services to your address.
Postcode does not matter - there are places in a different county and over 10 miles away using Walsall postcodes. Luckily in a different council area.

I pay my council tax to Dudley, it just doesn't make sense to me that i'm in Birmingham and 1 minute away from being in a Birmingham council area yet i'm not in lock down.

Then by council areas you are in Dudley for administrative and rubbish clearance services.

As you say you are not in a Birmingham council area. Whatever method is used to define borders there would be people across the border. Either same rules across entire country or else accept that there are going to be borders.

You are lucky being a minute away from the border. Some people are literally across the road from Birmingham - one side of the road in Brum, one side in another council area.

Or one house on a street is in one council area and their next door neighbour is in another!
