Delivering leaflets and other marketing ideas

Hi, hope a Merry Xmas was had by all?

I've had 10,000 leaflets sitting round for the last few months or so. Im not to busy in Jan normally so hoping to do some delivering.

Leaflets advertising home improvements.

Id like to target houses which are 10 to 20 years old. Is there a way I can find out local areas to me which were built in the last 20 odd years?
Also if anyone had any other marketing ideas for tradesmen I would be really happy to hear them.

Facebook is a great way for local tradesmen to start getting business.

Also companies like B&Q and Homebase allow tradesmen into their stores.

Car boot sales and markets are also good to have a pitch at promoting your services.

I have opened a facebook page for my company today but still working out how to get the most out of it

I have thought about a pitch at car boot or market before. Havent written it iff, just havent got round to it.

Have you considered buying leads?
Do you post on Freeads?
Are you listed on Hotfrog?
Are you registered with all your local business forums?

I have checked out your SEO too and i'm not overly sure who has done it but it isnt great.

The H1 tag on your site says:

"Fitting your dream kitchen doesn’t happen very often, so you need to make sure that the quality is superb and the installation is solid."

Thats no good.

Change it to make sure it says your targetted keyphrases.

Also you have lots of links pointing to your website from the same domains.

When building links to your site ALWAYS make sure the link has anchor text that matches your keywords.

I notice you have soooooo many links that dont have anchor text and your images also dont have alt tags.

Make sure that your onpage seo is 100% before building links otherwise your efforts will be wasted.

My advice, as usual, would be to look into the definitions of advertising and marketing. You referred to marketing in your opening post, but have only spoken and been given advice regarding advertising. Don't make the usual mistake of confusing the two.

Im a bit surprised to hear my on site seo isnt that good. Its all been done professionally so that is disappointing.
Ill in the process getting all the pictures updated so the tags can be added then.

I would knock Land Registry or Council door first. Your best bet is to find which estates have been built between 1991 - 2001. This should give you plenty of opportunities, since you are not looking for single properties anyway.

As for leaflets - they are cheap and quite effective [for the price].

What I haven't tried yet is to supply some useful personalized items instead, like trolley tokens or beer openers or fridge magnets. Yes, they are more expensive but then most of them wouldn't end it the bin straight away. So their useful [advertising] life would be extended.

Anybody has any experience with this?

You should definately have your keyphrase in your link.

A perfect example is this forum.

Currently your signature is just a link pointing to your website.

If you make it an anchor text link you can have your keywords linking back to your site.

This is worth a 1000 times what your current method is doing.

Also you should set a 301 redirect on your site.

at the moment if I type in stevemorrowkitchens(dot)co(dot)uk it doesnt redirect to http: // www. steve morrow kitchens .co .uk

Also on the bottom of your site, it says (R) SteveMorrows2009

I'd change that to an anchor with your keyphrase in.

Have a look at all your old posts on here.

Your signature has been updated on those aswell.

Which now means you have loads of links coming from here with your keyphrase.

Go to the other forums you are signed up to and do the same.

Note that not all forums use bbcode.

Some use a href.

Most forums will update every post with your new signature.

They will also allow you to add more than one link in your signature. So add a few of your keyphrases.

That's a very poor and limited definition of marketing. You need to dig a bit deeper.

About marketing ideas, I think nowadays the SNS is a must. Try Facebook and Twitter as a start to get attention. Also, use Email Marketing and Newsletters to followup, send the exact info. to your potential customers. More purchases from old customers may comes in.
