Long story short, I was marched along the corridor to see the another Sales Director who it turns out was my predecessor at the job i'd recently left. He knew all about me as we'd successfully sunk the competitive publication he'd left to set up. All water under the bridge, we had a laugh about it and I was introduced to the Ad Manager for the respective title who it turns out was a lad i'd once let a room to some 10 years before.
The moral of this story? You never know who's looking at your CV...........

For the avoidance of confusion it's important not to get your terms muddled up. Your freelance services are not VAT *exempt*. They are standard rated services when supplied to a UK business customer. When supplied to a customer outside of the UK they are outside the scope of UK VAT (which is not the same as VAT exempt or zero rated).

its not really in their interests to not provide you with a copy. That said, a copy can probably be obtained at the cheapest price from the Land Registry directly for £3.00. Failing that you can go back to your solicitor - who should have it stored away in a Deeds packet.

Just do you research, if you're selling something related to marketing then you want the name of the marketing person, even if they're not the key decision maker if still relevant and if you win them over you can off the back of that get the name and an introduction to the key decision maker.

we use xero, plus it connects with crm software like RealtimeCRM or hubspot which is useful.

I think that you should think who will benefit from such specific early information? These are specific industrial products and if you regularly visit fairs in the EU and US, you will be very well informed about all new products and easily get in contact with companies

Would recommend RealtimeCRM. Very simple to use and track sales with great support.

You can do either, both will be a directors loan - personally I think it's best to transfer the loan to the company and then for the company to use the funds but both are effectively the same thing.

I'd disagree with the above comments about finding out where your competitors are advertising. There is no value in simply doing what your competitors are doing. As @fisicx mentioned, you just have to be clever in this market. It's not actually a difficult market to crack, but you need to set up your entire business around a decent marketing idea. Deciding to start a business, working out which products you will sell, and then thinking about marketing is completely the wrong way to do it.

There are loads of opportunities in this sector, but they are only easy to make money from if you look for the marketing opportunities and build the business around them.

I am still in the planning stages of creating a new website/company.
We will basically be showcasing products for our supplier in the EU, we have a large number of UK customers and increasing throughout the EU.

Our plan is to sell his products through our site for a commission, we will integrate Stripe so they can pay on credit/debit card but would also like to add finance.

I know we cant offer it personally as we are not the retailer but has anyone worked with a finance lender before (Zopa for example) where we could say something along the lines of 'check out our UK recommended loan provider' and a customer could get a personal loan to then purchase the products from our site?

Hopefully we get a kick back from the lender or they can offer a slightly better rate if recommended from our website?

Is this something which can be done or is recommending a loan to customer frowned up on?
