WP template for a pub/restaurant?

Dear WP gurus -

I have been blessed with 'sorting out the pub website'. I am quite ok on WP front - but seem to fail to find a half decent template for a pub. There are quite a few 'restaurant' and other '$69' versions - but still nothing is really pub-related.

Anybody out there who has done one, can even give it away on a 'thank you' basis? Obviously copyright is mentioned, etc.. and css would change anyway..

I looked at Infocus (which I have a dev license for) but it is 'sledgehammer for nut' approach -

Well - all comments welcome.

Tks!

In my honest opinion, most paid and free WP themes are released for the generic market, which will be aimed at America etc.

There aren't many sites selling UK specific designs, which would relate to the UK market, which is unfortunate for pub owners, as I have previously looked and couldn't find anything really suitable.

Being honest, it's probably best to do either of the following:

1) Find a generic theme and amend it to your needs, won't cost much but you're limited to the flexibility of the theme.
2) Have a custom one made, it will then be built for your business and be totally unique, with no modifications needed.

#1 is a semi-cheap method, while #2 will cost you a bit more but will ultimately involve less work on your part.

Thank you for your reply -

Just along my findings. Either #1 or #2 - bearing in mind - it is a small pub - not a Harvester or similar 'big brand'...

So funding is limited, i.e. 'zero(isch)' To be completely honest - they need a bit more business or they close the doors anyway... it is my local after all... so help is required.

I think I will bite the bullet and take the '2012' through its paces.

Before I forget - did you come across any 'useful' pub related plugins? Eventmanager or so would be a complete overkill...

Again, thanks for the prompt reply - IF someone comes across what I'm after - please let me know!

What makes them better? Can't the brewery / leaseholder invest in a website for the pub? All the breweries around this area have done this.

Do they do food? Do they advertise this? Do they encourage people in, in the week with things to do e.g. quiz, pub teams (cards, darts, skittles etc - our local has a pub game of some sort on every night M-F)

Before just building the website, they need to know what they want to promote.

A business that has zero budget for marketing is not a viable business.

That's not exactly true.

I worked for a short time in a business enterprise centre for start-ups. Out of the 100s of people who came in to use the services only a few had any budget for marketing and most of those then didn't have the skills to use that budget effectively.

Sure most failed but a fair few survived simply because they already had a good network setup either in business or their personal life. These companies never did any marketing and never needed to. If you know your market and have the connections going direct really pays.
