I just wanted to canvass your opinion on who you reckon is one of the best UK people you've read, known, seen or worked with when it comes to e-commerce.

Maybe it's someone here at UKBF, or maybe it's a blogger or internet marketing guru.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

That's easy to answer with regards to UKBF members - SillyJokes

Boho talks a lot of sense too

I guess really from the perspective of someone who has proven success in the ecommerce area as an owner, but who also knows the nuts and bolts technically too.

Does this person exist, I wonder?

Blimey ... thanks Richard. I'm off to check Mr Naylor out now. Sounds like the Oliver Reed of ecommerce ... in a good way ;)

I think there are some very talented owners here with regards to e-commerce, but I would be breaking it down into skill-set/expertise areas:

  • Site structure for optimum conversion and conversion testing
  • Sales Copy and call to Action
  • SEO for e-commerce
  • Adwords/PPC skills

not sure what you are getting at with this question: This for a "Internet Man of the Year" poll? ;-), or a book, or are you looking for advice on a specific item?

As it happens I have worked with some of the biggest brands in ecommerce (Sony, Dell, Philips) and I've been lucky enough to meet some great ecommerce people. Not all UK people though - would that be an issue?

If you wish to know some specifics I would be happy to try and introduce.

Kind regards
Adam

Hi Adam

Here's what I'm getting at:

I'm looking to approach two or three people who are recognised specialists/successful e-commerce owners who might be interested in a guest slot once a month on SmallBizPod's blog contributing 300-500 words.

As per RayB's post below, ideally I'm looking for three recognised experts in the fields of site structure/conversion and SEO. I think I've PPC and copy sorted.

Anyone interested in more details or with recommendation of people they'd like to read, PM me.

Cheers

Alex

I don't count myself as an expert, but I have operated an online sales service from a home office for the last 6 years, and have over 16,000 online transactions under my belt.
(And yes, we are registered for VAT and are a limited company)
I have a certain amount of suspicion about self-proclained 'experts'.
