Which accounting software do you use and why?

Interested to hear which accounting software people are using for their businesses and how they would rate them.

Currently we offer Xero and FreeAgent but are looking to add to our offering.

Currently Accounts Portal, largely as it was recommended here by someone whose judgement I trust.

Inexpensive, easy to use, very few quirks/oddities/annoyances. Have only had to seek help once, response was prompt and clear.

We offer Freeagent, Kashflow and Quickbooks. Kashflow is ideal for small simple businesses as it's very easy to use and clients take to it very quickly. It was a bit flaky and amateurish at first, but now it looks more professional. We suggest QB for people with more complicated needs simply due to it's far superior reporting abilities - shame it's still got a few glitches and is harder to use because I could see us recommending it more. Freeagent goes without saying, it's brilliant despite being expensive.

When I was in practice I liked the look of Clearbooks, but we mainly had small clients and VT was a popular choice. Accounts Portal looks very good, as does the pricing.

With the recent thread on AWeb about Xero, I would tread carefully about recommending it to clients.

Accounts Portal and the reasons are -

1. It does the job well!
2. Its very reliable
3. On the extremely rare occasions when support is needed (and it is VERY rare) it is excellent
4. It makes my life easy...actually that should be number 1
5. Its very competitively priced

I use Accounts Portal both for my own accounts and for clients accounts and truly find it hard to fault.

Moved to Clearbooks from Netsuite. Netsuite was incredibly expensive for our requirements. At the time nothing support multiple currency accounts and EC sales lists until Clearbooks added support.

Moved to Clearbooks 2013 and now pay in a year what I used to pay in a month with Netsuite.

Clearbooks, moved from sage, much better imo, we were with them from near the beginning and they've got a good product now.

There isn't an accountant I know that likes Sage.

Sage instant accounts.

Cheap, does what we need, and moat importantly integrates with our estimating and management system.

Interesting to hear so many people mention Clearbooks here. We integrate with most cloud-accounting software... but not Clearbooks. Never had many requests before. Is there a particular customer profile it suits versus Xero, for example?

Does EU Vat returns and VAT Moss. Without ugly workarounds.

We are still using Kashflow. It handles EU returns automatically. Whilst I don't make any VAT MOSS supplies I believe it handles that too.

We run a cleaning business, and we purchased a software program called " window cleaning Pro "
But unfortunately the company stopped doing updates, so we need to find an alternative !

We are still using Kashflow. It handles EU returns automatically. Whilst I don't make any VAT MOSS supplies I believe it handles that too.

Doesn't offer Multi Currency bank accounts which is why we discounted Kashflow and FreeAgent.
