What's RBS Worldpay

I just had a reminder to pay my No Wires account which was previously set up as Paypal. I changed it to pay by debit card and it automatically allocated me a RBS worldpay account :| x

Thanks Merchant :) ... is it owned by Tesco? x

Ha Ha, the thought of Tesco owning everything :D No its not.

It used to be owned by RSB, Royal Bank of Scotland, but it sold it in 2010

RBS Group has today confirmed the sale of its Global Merchant Services business (RBS WorldPay) to a consortium of Advent International and Bain Capital. RBS group will hold a minority stake. Our new business will now be known as WorldPay.

Tesco use Worldpay for its card processing, it dosn't actually own it ;)

Looks like a re-ourring payment set up by no-wires via worldpay to take your credit/debit card subscription.

If your paying with your credit or debit card this is the method which they require payment Take a read here http://www.worldpay.com/shopper/kb/shoppermanagementsystem/sms.htm#sms7000.html

The WorldPay Shopper Management System is an online, password protected tool for managing your Recurring Payment (FuturePay) agreement(s).
Online stores that use the WorldPay service to process payments securely over the internet can also use our service to create Recurring Payment (FuturePay) agreements with their customers. Recurring Payment (FuturePay) agreements are online arrangements similar to Standing Orders and Direct Debits, but funds can also be debited from your debit or credit card.

You can use our Shopper Management System to carry out a number of tasks, including:
  • view your agreement and payment details - for example to check that a payment has been taken successfully
change the credit or debit card payments are debited from
change your contact details such as your email address for transaction confirmation emails
instruct our system to attempt to take an outstanding payment
  • cancel your agreement.

Just in case I'm mis-reading it Massey ... it looks to me as though No Wires and or Worldpay set me up a personal agreement which as far as I'm aware I did not agree to :) x

you would have ticked a box accepting their terms and conditions, so what you DID was opt not to read them.

you didn't what? :)

part of their terms of acceptance is that you have read their terms and conditions, the moment your click the accept button your are confirming that you have done so, thus ticking the box that you had read and accept to be bound by their terms and conditions.

'ticking a box' is a term, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to physically tick a box, the text is there, whether or not you choose to read it is your call.

I went into No Wires to pay their invoice. Last year I paid by Paypal but as I had no money in my Paypal account I elected to pay by Visa Electron.

It then offered me two options ... one was to log in and use Worldpay and the other was simply to pay by debit card.

I paid by debit card :| ... I did't tick or not tick anything :| x

I think its because they use worldpay as their card processor to process your payment, as its a reocurring payment they use worldpay's future pay service. This inturn give you a customer account which allows you to make or change any payments etc...

Its really a nice way to manage your payments each month to them, unless you opt to pay your hosting fees yearly then you would just be taken to the worldpay checkout and charged the full amount.

It really isn't nothing to worry about
