What do and don't you like about my website?

Hello all, just wanted some feedback about what you do and don't like about my website and business www.motheruk.com. There are improvements to be made and I have a 'to do' list, which I want to add too, so over to you for some good, honest feedback! Please, if possible, don't use any techno speak as it will mean nothing to me.

Firstly congratualtions and good luck with your business venture!

The first thing I noticed was the green colour of the wesbsite. I feel this is the wrong colour for this type of product - green seems to suggest hospitals and medical matters or environmental issues etc to me but that could just be me. A warmer more vibrant colour would suit better, I think.


On your 'shop' page, lovely as the photo is of yourself? and the little one I don't think it should be on the site as it doesn't really add anything.( If it is to stay on it definitely shouldn't be on that page and I do think it would be better in colour as the black and white looks too drab). I think the buyer just wants to see lots and lots of t-shirts for sale when they visit this page

The t-shirts would look better being modelled by real people and it would be good if you could click on all of them to enlarge.

All your information about how to order and payment would look better on a separate page so you have a nice big clear 'window' of a page to show off your merchandise.

Basically I think you need to have more pages and define your pages as regards their purpose. The whole site needs livening up as it just seems too 'quiet'.

Oh I loved the photographs as they were, they were lovely. But then again I'm quite arty. I do agree about the green background, I always think pastel when I think of baby things. I did like the site, easy to use.

I actually prefer black and white/sepia to colour photos but I don't think they're right in this instance.

But I agree, although better 'page definition' is needed the site is clean and easy to use

I remember seeing your site a while back when it was under construction and just the homepage was available to view. Personally, I think it looks great, the green is a fresh change from the pinks and purples on most mother/baby sites, and the homepage graphic is great, sums up exactly what you're about.
One thing I would try to fix though is that the 'about us' page. It jumps in size and the links get all spread out displaying some of background between them. I have checked in both IE6 and firefox and have the same problem in each. If you need a screengrab of what I'm seeing let me know.

The first thing I would say is put your contact details and how you go about buying one of your t-shirts in the most prominent position possible.

On your shop page put your contact details and how and what to order information right at the top, this way it will be immediatly visible in the screen without having to scroll down to it. It is commendable that you are making a donation from every purchase but you wont want it detracting from sales...

Very good idea, my wife and I have 2 kids and choosing maternity clothing was a nightmare for Lisa.

I like the site and the concept.

You will make more sales from this site when you make purchasing easier. It is quite difficult to work out how to get hold of a shirt.

I like that the packaging is shown - it looks attractive and adds value, maybe the picture is a little too big however.

The home page doesn't seem to add anything to the site and the images' alt text said 'click here to shop' but it didn't work on the lefthand image I was clicking. It made the site appear unfinished and not open.
