There are clearly a lot of business owners on here, I'm just interested in which issues you find more tiring when trying to sort out?

Purely for market research reasons more than anything. We do run a business cost reduction company but it's good to hear what business owners describe in their own words as their biggest headache when it comes to things like this.

Obviously as a forum, it's a great place to get feedback from people and can only help shape our marketing in the future.

Well then that's good news. We actually work with a lot of accountants to help them save their clients money so if you're getting them a good deal then that's excellent.

Other people..............;)

Yeah to be fair sales calls can be very frustrating. We offer more of a consultancy approach and all our services are actually free of charge so we like to think we're a bit different to the standard call centers you will have ringing you :)

I've had some pretty annoying cold callers lately (more so than normal). I find their anger shows when you refuse to engage in the script. And all that "we are not trying to sell you anything" is always a lie. Somebody has to pay. I can already hear the grief i will get for this reply!

No grief from here, I totally agree. Although we're a business cost reduction company we work in a VERY different way to all the others you mentioned and our services are ALWAYS free to the client. There's NO element of hard sell, NO pressure etc. We hugely pride ourselves on not being the exact company you mentioned and as long as they carry on acting like that, people will appreciate more how our company works.

I, like you get fed up with the huge number of cold calls that are trying to hide what they do and I feel that is the wrong way to work, just be honest?! Everything with us is transparent and if we can help then great but if we can't then we'll always say but the very least our clients get is the piece of mind that they are already on the best rates for everything.

We want clients to remember us in the future when maybe we can help them and that's something we make no apologies for.

That's not entirely true though, is it ?

Too much coffee or not enough coffee, the headache is caused by one or the other and gets worse by me trying to figure out what is causing my headache

clear?

Clients that don't know what they want! Those clients that always have "amazing ideas" and think they know everything, yet they have no clue about market, competition or how much work goes into completing a project.

I think members may be less suspicious if you explained exactly how you make money. Obviously someone pays somewhere, or you've got the worlds worst business model. :)

Yeah that's totally fine. I just didn't want this to seem like a sales thread as it was set up for market research purposes. As I say everything is VERY transparent with us.

Ok so let's say that we do a business costs review to see how much you are paying on Electricty, Telecoms, Chip & Pin services and EPOS Systems (or any of the previous on their own). We have a look to see if you are on the best rates possible, if you are then great, we will tell you but if if you aren't then we'll let you know exactly how much you can save and how you go about it. There's no obligation at all so at this point, you haven't paid for anything and you can walk away at any time.

If we could save your company say £500 a year and you're happy with that then great, you're happy. The supplier (out of the top 43 we work with) that provided you the best price is happy as they have a new customer, it is then them that pay us a finders fee meaning that ALL our services to you the client can always remain FREE and we are still getting paid as a business and everyone in the loop is happy.

I hope that clears it up as we don't want anyone thinking that there is some hidden agenda. We make money as a business and do very well but that doesn't mean that we can't offer you the client a free service and neither does it mean that we take a share of the saving you make like a lot of companies out there. If this is still unclear or if you want more information then feel free to say.

I presume, when you're dealing a clients energy contracts, you add your uplift to the unit rate. The customer has to pay, hence it is not a free service

Absolutely not! If you have a look at my last response you will see how we make money, and make sure we keep the service to the client free.

Many utility companies pay finders fees.

It’s just another overhead like advertising, except paying a finders fee guarantees them custom unlike PPC etc.

The business relationship is pretty similar to how recruitment agencies work with candidates.

If a business saves money and hasn’t had to pay for the privilege, surely everyone is a winner?

My sentiments exactly and you're very right, a lot of industries use a similar model.
