OK most of the time I use a diesel Mondeo estate.
reason comfort, power,50 mpg.huge carrying capacity.

Not a bad suggestion, however, with slightly less in the 0-60 stakes buy my Rev2 Tubby - at a push you could get a couple of kids in the boot and one (very small ickle kiddiwiddie) under the bonnet, there's no engine just a spare tyre, so there's plenty of room.

New C Class Mercedez - Looks good, classy, comfortable, spacious
Mitsubushi Evo X (on order) - for the power, always wanted one and the facelift looks brilliant

My main car: Hyundai Terracan - it's plenty "man enough" to tow our caravan, which our previous car (Seat Alhambra) couldn't cope with, it's comfortable and a lot cheaper than a Land Rover or Range Rover. I've also got very lazy as it's an automatic, which I love despite having driven manuals for 20 years!
Hubby's car which I drive occasionally: Nissan Micra - it was lent indefinately to us by my sister who moved to Europe and couldn't get insurance for a British car. Best bit is that although she's returned to the UK she chose to import her left hand drive car and we have gained a second car and I no longer have to get up at 6am to take hubby to work to enable me to have a car. It's a manual gearbox and that's fine - I have more trouble with the indicators and windscreen wipers being on the opposite side to the Terracan than I do with driving a manual.

Got rid of the Nissan Almera (I had an honest to gawd reason for having that car btw !!) and bought a Citroen Berlingo Van 1.9D - boring, but really most of my journeys are to do with work and I do need the space in the back.
Eventually I will get around to sign-writing it, etc - but not sure if this one is the one i'll be keeping at the moment, so waiting.

I've got a Mini Cooper now, though after writing off an MGTF my confidence has gone down considerably as far as driving is concerned......not sure if the Mini was the answer now as I seem too close to other traffice ;-s.....Thinking of maybe a Megane Convertible...though maybe that won't conquer my fear of driving in the rain that I seem to have developed....

If I am unfortunate enough to be in a crash I want something around me that has some strength and size about it. I also love the luxury of the car.
On the downside it loves a drop of petrol and the servicing bill is big.
Looking to change soon though as this one is now 5 years old. I am swinging between 2 cab pick up on the company (for tax reasons) or a 60k Range Rover for personal reasons. Oh .. if only I could a) justify the expense and b) make the decision

Mercedes E220 diesel saloon, which my husband bought me for my birthday last year.
Previously, it was a Volvo 240 estate, which we bought new in 1987 but had sadly become uneconomical to keep filling up with petrol. I loved that car, but am very pleased with the Merc so far, especially in terms of economy and comfort.

Nissan Almera 2.2 TDi (Now for sale!)
Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDci - only £35.00 per YEAR Road tax. Rock On!
Why the above? Both have fantastic mpg, well over 40, the Almera is a rocket to drive, and comfortable and safe.
Fiesta is cheap and cheerful.
On the 'next car' list? Nissan Navara.

Vauxhall Signum.
Why? For £13k I got a 6 month old, 5,000 miles car with leather, sat nav, around 50 to 53 mpg if being careful, otherwise about 48 mpg, loads of carrying space and its comfortable to do a thousand miles or so a week in. Plus, I occasionally have to pull a 1.7tonne trailer and my Signum will do up to 1.8t, and it doesn't look too flash when on a client's site and they wonder if its their fees paying for my car.
Why? I used to have a Skoda Fabia VRS, which I loved - really fast on all the little national speed limit roads round here, plus 50mpg, great for the 100 mile round trip on the motorway to work.
Now share an Audi A3 1.8 with my OH, it's alright but handles like a boat compared to the Skoda!
