IMHO keyword checkers are good (but not that accurate), nothing gives you more accurate figures than PPC and in record time too!

1. I think anyone running a business (especially an international business) like the OP will need to spend a little £££ to get a feel of the market and the words the clients are using to find the required product or service.

2. They can either use Google Analytics or their own Analytics software to track what clients do once they reach a landing page from PPC. This will not only determine how powerful the keywords are they're choosing, they'll also be able to change the layout of their page(s) to get the best results.

3. Doing simple keyword analysis with any keyword tool is barely scratching the surface when it comes to keyword targeting and buyer behaviour. I'm afraid if you're serious about marketing you need start "plowing money in".
