I currently have a website that has between 100 and 400 hits per day. its quite a specialist website that you would have to be looking for, ie its not something that you would go on by mistake boosting hits.

My question is how would I go about putting adverts on my page? could I charge for them and if so what would be a good price to charge, does it depend on hits? size of the add?etc.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

It depends on what is your main goal; earning money/sharing information/both. If you want to earn money then it is a good idea to put ads or register for google adsense. Price of ads will depends on ads placing like in header, footer or sidebars. Apart from this, it depends on the size of ads too.

I wouldn't bother. It's only going to earn you a few pennies per day so not worth the effort.

Get 10,000 unique visitors per day and then you can start earning a decent amount.

You can include banner or text link ads (just make sure they are no follow).

You can advertise for sponsors etc on your site and maybe one of these hits becomes a customer.
or you can contact businesses in the field and offer a space..its up to you what you charge.

At the end of the day - if they market is willing to pay for you are asking then you cool.

Ads are usually charged by a mix of position (the further up, the higher the fee), placement (every page vs specific pages) and size. If you look at other sites, banner ads in the header are the most expensive, followed by side banners and then banners at bottom.
