Waste/recycling company

Can anyone offer advice on how I might start up in the waste collection business, ideally on a commercial scale rather than doing stuff like garden clearance and/or about ewaste collection and recycling? Where I may get the work and how much money there is to be made potentially and what I'd need to set up and get going.
I come from a gas utilities background and want a change.

How much money have you got? You will need lots of it.

Start with this:

Register or renew as a waste carrier, broker or dealer

Register or renew registration with the Environment Agency to transport, buy, sell or broker waste.

Then go find a plot of land to buy or lease. This is where you will build your depot.

Then buy your trucks.

Then spend huge chunks of money on marketing.

I'm really open to anything. I'd just prefer to find something that can be done on some kind of contract basis to create some kind of regular income rather than advertising for general rubbish collection. I'd ideally use a facility as Id like to keep it simple as possible and not have to employ too many people. I'd like to run it from a lwb van or something similar and not have to go as far as having to buy skips and lorrys etc. This really comes from another thread where a giuuy said to be making £18k a month and I did message to find out more but had no reply.
