Hi everyone

I thought I would take some time to post on this forum.

Basically I am a UK expat living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for over a year now. I have built up a successful import and distribution business here, operating in the consumer goods sector. We import some of the UK’s largest brands including Burton’s Biscuits and many other well-known products. If you wish to see more I can send you my website address.

In order to diversify my business I wish to start introducing Vietnamese made products to the UK market. Now is the perfect time for companies who have found the rising costs of labour in China and surrounding areas eroding their margins and Vietnam is in the perfect position to take advantage of this.

I have a very strong network of companies and business contacts across many industries and I am always looking for new opportunities to build trade links with the UK.

I travel back and forward to UK regularly, and so can meet in person if required rather than just maintaining a remote business relationship.

If you think your business could benefit from any products produced in Vietnam or just want to talk about what could be available in future please get in contact to talk further.

Thanks

Christopher

Hi Tom

I am open to many different options.

My best contacts are probably within the food industry, especially coffee as it is so widely produced here at low cost.

Living and working here I have had the luxury of being able to access many different industries and can get products at source rather than dealing with middle men. I know there is excellent opportunities in furniture, garment manufacture and many other labour intensive products.

I can also control the quality of any product that leaves the country as I can inspect before shipping.

I’m really trying to find a good UK import partner to work with in order to reduce risk and complexity for them.

Also I operate a UK company for security of transactions covered under UK law.

If you’ve any thoughts please let me know.

Thanks

Hi Chris

I have been running a fashion accessories business for the last 15 years. Our products are mainly handbags and wallets. We currently produce all our products in China. With the rising cost, I am considering shifting the production from China to Vietnam but I am not familiar with the situation in Vietnam. Do you have anyone in your contacts that manufacture handbags and wallets by any chance? I have seen a lot of handbags made of fabric coming out of Vietnam into UK. We use synthetic leather only. We still need to source the materials from China but the labour cost should be a lot cheaper in Vietnam.

Thank you
Ray

Hi Ray

Many thanks for your response. I understand the problem with the rising costs in China. A lot of people are moving their production from China to Vietnam due to the lower labour costs, mainly in the garment, furniture and electronic sectors. Actually, some Chinese companies in the southern provinces have resorted to using illegal worker from Vietnam in their factories in order to reduce their labour costs.

We do have contacts in that industry so would be able to look into establishing a new production base for you here in Vietnam to try and reduce your manufacturing costs. Would you be able to send me over any specifications of the products that you require for manufacturing? Also, if you have a company website or product details please send to me so I have a better idea of the style of product you would like. Sourcing synthetic leather in Vietnam should not be a problem here also as it is widely used in garment and furniture production.

Also, I will PM you my contact details and website, please let me know if you would like to arrange a call or skype session.

Best regards

Chris
