Us commercial 95% - site visits

Hello, my website is www.zinerit.com. I am currently getting approximately 500 visits a month. My site has been online for roughly 3 months. I sell digital cameras and camcorders, I have been making a modest amount of sales. I believe I have a huge kink in my business, I only sell to the UK, and will only ever be selling to the UK ( I cannot sell to the US). But only 1% of my visitors are from the UK, 95% are from US commercial, and another 5% are from different locations accross the globe. This is not good atall! Seing as I can only sell to UK customers...

I have been submitting to directories and link building, with websites which are a variety of .com websites, and .co.uk websites.

Does anybody have any help/advice ? Is there a way I can block off US customers?

Spam UK through your site

Is your domain available in UK form?

I cant find your address anywhere, try putting it in the footer?

.com doesn't strictly mean US...I am a .com and sell into Spain...

Where are your actually visitors coming from? Have you place a Geo-position in your HEAD tags so Google knows you are UK?

Where are the visitors coming from? Search engines? or the links you have created around the internet?

If you've only been going for a few months then I would switch to .co.uk now if you can.
Where is your site hosted? If its not hosted in the UK then switch that also.
Set the geo targeting in google and focus on getting links from UK sites.

I have to say that I don't necessarily agree with the previous poster...certainly buy the .co.uk domain as well assuming its available but there is no real need to "switch". That said, it does makke some sense if you only plan to sell to the UK market.

I wouldn't mind betting that your US Commercial visitors are search engine bots rather than real customers. Where are you getting your data from? It sounds like Webstats which depending on your site build can be seriously skewed so don't necessarily believe all that you are seeing. If you don't have it yet get Analytics on to your site.

Don't try to block off customers.....why would you want to? As long as they have to be in the UK to buy then whats the problem? Apart from all else you would get pretty hacked off if a US site decided to block you from visiting simply because you are in the UK.....most site visitors are just that...they visit and browse and research...and they may or may not buy either now or in the future......don't put barriers in place...welcome all with open arms!

And of course....you have only been around for three months...thats twelve weeks....which is nothing....you are being visited and indexed (or not) and page ranked etc.....things will settle down over the next few months and then you can see whats really happening....thats the point where you need to start to address your failings....stick with working on your SEO and stop worrying about a visitor from Idaho! ...only kidding!

Thanks Andy Thankyou for showing enthusiasm and making the effort to reply like that! really appreciate it! I actually took the site down about 6 months ago. I didnt have any budget for paid advertising. Was spending hours on end building up links ect... I eventually decided to take down the site. Organic optimisation was going nowhere and was tired of trying to master all the different methods. I dont think it's possible to learn a whole industry (seo) in a few months. Had a go at it but I was never going to be able to compete with the big boys on a £0 advertising budget. However I'm glad I set up the site and everything, valuable experience. I was 15 when I started it, I'm now 16, 17 in november. Wish me luck with getting on Alan Sugars new series, the junior apprentice! Best regards, Matt Long.
