What is goin on here there's so little talk about this?
I guess there just aren't many UK businesses who export physical goods to the US

The US Global de minimis exemption ends aug 29. I only just found this out, as last i heard it was just for chinese stuff

If i sell a £20 t shirt to a US customer they don't pay tax or tariffs and the parcel goes through customs quickly and arrives in a few days.
From aug 29

the parcel is processed through US customs and is tarriff'd and taxed
-small tariff cost to customer
- Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) For formal entries, the U.S. charges an MPF of 0.3464% of the declared value, with a minimum of $31.67 (2025 rates).

So the customer has to pay more than $32 to receive the shirt?

is this really happening as its soon? Is it expected that trump TACOs again and that's why its not been discussed much?

Its going to be a shit show at customs isn't it with huge delays. i don't even trust royal mail will send the stuff with the proper documentation on

I have, historically, sold clothing items to the US, although not in recent years in enough numbers to give proper attention to it.

My view is that should a US person buy a £20 item from me it would be fairest to reply making sure they know of the exact cost to them, and the possibility of a longer delivery schedule. I would expect my shopping cart actually to pop this information up before the order is finalised.

In reality, some customers will not proceed with the order, which, of course, is exactly what Mr Trump is hoping for.

Do you know if the MPF is going to apply to low value shipments?

Hoping DHL have advised you of this as RM have not mentioned it.
My shipments are mostly bulk to a US distributor and already above the de minimis limit. These go DHL Express. For the time being I will probably refund small orders from the US and direct them to a US stockist.
