If I was to start a sideline business alongside my dog walking biz and that new biz website had same contact address and phone details, would Google be ok with that? I'm guessing Google is smart enough to deal with it, yeah?

As long as you use proper markup on each site to avoid confusion, then yes, no probs at all

Yes Schema. is the second business in a different sector? if not then make sure the category etc you chose tells google it is. Also create the link to the website and have their own social accounts and link to them

Google wouldn't let me have a map listing for two different websites/businesses at the same address. I had to pick which one I wanted on the map.

Obviously, Google wants to make sure that every business owners has their chance to own unique map listing address.

Get a VOIP number for a fiver a month and differentiate the two.

There's addresses with thousands of businesses - it's the phone number that differentiates them. It's also much easier to know how to answer the phone when you have more than one number
