Turning Limited, Name Dilemma

Hello,

It is my intention to become a Limited company in April and also be registered for vat. However I have an issue over the company name that I want to incorporate.

I currently run a business called - let's say - 'ABC'. This is currently a partnership. I sell all sorts of products but the most popular by far is the bakeware range. This is where my dilemma begins, because I wanted to create a new company name more specific to baking (for the purpose of this thread let's call it 'XYZ Ltd'.

However, because 'ABC' has had an online presence for the last three years, I really don't want to completely scrap using that name.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how I could perhaps use 'XYZ Ltd' as the new company name but somehow continue to refer to 'ABC' so that our customer-base will know it's still us?

Could I possibly register 'ABC Ltd' instead and have 'XYZ' as some sort of trading name?

Any help/advice/experience would be appreciated.

Hello MyAccountanyOnline and zigojacko,

Thank you both for your replies. I will certainly go and look into that now as it may be a solution to how I sell my stock, i.e; have one trading name just for bakeware and another for everything else, perhaps.
