We have been approached by spectrelaws.com about registering our name as a trademark. We have previously tried to do this ourselves and had it rejected as being a common phrase despite it previously being registered (we accidentally let it lapse).

Has anyone offer advice re using Spectrelaws or suggest an alternative?

Hi Pentel. We had an email from them too, £199 to protect our trading name (Which is already protected under Companies House). Said that someone is trying to trademark our name, we have a pretty unique business name. However "Hazel" from SpectreLaw is offering to take all this away for a mere £199..
I have searched the company on scamadviser.com/check-website/spectrelaws.com and the reviews also back up what we think.

Companies House doesn't protect your name as such.

It (hopefully) prevents anyone from registering a very similar name. It can support your case for prior use

My first question would be whether your fee is rebated if they fail (better still, pay by results)

Without knowing them, my guess would be that they do what you did and get the same results- there is a small chance that they have experience and knowledge that can work around the process.
