In my opinion and experience, yes. I think TikTok shop is genius in how they have tapped into the instant gratification era. Tiktok itself is all about being interested within a split second, or moving on to the next content. Instant gratification then move on. And the shop trades on that. I personally am a big sweet fan - i don’t eat crisps or chocolate but could eat my own body weight in haribo! I saw an advert for a big pack of sweets that looked just my type. In literally 2 taps on the screen and no more than 10 seconds I’d ordered and paid for them. I didn’t even give myself time to think! Had i had to redirect to a website, add them to basket, create an account, enter my card details etc…. Then in all honesty I’d probably have stopped and said “come on, you don’t need to spend £15 on 1kg of sweets”.
One of our customers is selling on there and selling thousands of some items. It’s all linked To influencers and other creators reposting the product and making videos linking back to the original shop post. Admittedly they say some things take off and fly and others don’t. TikTok are also investing heavily in client acquisition and subsidising purchases - they have some items they are selling for £12.99 and receiving £20 from TikTok!
I am not sure it is a platform where people will go specifically to search for an item like you would on Amazon - at least not yet. I wouldn’t imagine you can list all your items on there and just expect to sell them. But as a platform to grab people on an impulse buy supported by the right content then it’s absolutely worth looking into.
