I can't speak for anyone else, but my opinion of you was formed through reading your rants, your incoherent, irrelevant, and very very long rants.
As soon as someone starts going off on a tangent, criticising a company on the grounds that you don't like the design of their website, or claims they make that are totally unrelated to the case in hand, they lose the argument as far as I'm concerned.
As I've said, I've come across quite a few people like you before.
Big Pete... can I ask you just one question?
Who exactly do you think caused this liquid damage on the motherboard of this laptop?
You should not confuse clarity and detail for a rant.
If you follow this thread carefully you will see that there was a reason I systematically took 'The Laptop Hut' to pieces.
Explain to me where this faith and strength of conviction in 'The Laptop Hut' comes from. Please, I do not understand it. At what point in this thread did they earn such respect?
If the Customer had of spilt liquid on his laptop i am pretty sure he would of figured oh damn and know about it. and would not be arguing like he did .
the pictures showing the so called liquid damge could be a picture of anybodys laptop. or caused by something whilst in with the Laptop Hut control..
Second erroneous (and possibly libellous) statement. Why would they do that? Why on earth would they fake it? Surely it would be much better for them to just change the mainboard and invoice John Lewis.
Maybe they get a set price for dodging repairs hence saving John lewis moneyWho knows but its such an easy cop out ,oh you spilt something ,what a shame heres a pic ..
easy money right![]()
It is worth restating that I did ask immediately for better, clearer and higher resolution photographs taken on a camera rather than an iPhone, that showed the exact damage they were describing, and they never responded to the request. That was a pretty basic request.
Either way, as I have said, we have reached an agreement with John Lewis, they are just running behind on their projected timescale. I left this whole forum while the matter was being resolved because I did not want it being dragged up in other threads on the site. I only returned to this thread as it was dragging on so long and I wanted to drawn a line under the matter and resume participation in the rest of the forum.
Whether or not the final outcome bothers any of our fellow members does not greatly bother me. It just serves to help me avoid doing business with them. It alarms me that there are people in the thread that could not even hypothetically, for the sake of objectivity, consider that we did not damage this machine just to allow them to impartially examine what Mike from 'The Laptop Hut' said when he came here.
But I do greatly appreciate the positive input in this thread when it has arrived.

Well i was glad of the update .. ignore the rude people
I know your genuine and think you have behaved more than fair..
Do you really think so? Really?
Oh, we know.
There was nothing wrong with the images, they were perfectly adequate in that they served their purpose very well.
Why do you keep harping on about the fact that they were taken with an iPhone? An iPhone has a 3MP camera, which is perfectly good for this type of use. A few years back 3MP would have been pretty high end in a digital camera. Why does the fact that the images were shot on an iPhone matter?
I do not think they were satisfactory, but lets take the quibbling out of it. Let's work in the hypothetical situation that the images were satisfactory, but we still requested further images. Is it reasonable that 'The Laptop Hut' did not respond in any way at all to our request? A basic part of customer service and customer relations is maintaining dialog. Ignoring communication with a customer is very poor.
It depends - as I said, at some point the only thing you can say to a customer is "sorry, we can't discuss this with you any further".
Can you tell me what Laptop this is from the type colour screen size and the owners name ?
I rest my Case ...![]()
But they never discussed anything with us! They never even explained what happened when they failed to reassembled the case correctly! I even asked Mike straight out here and he just dodged it.
But as I said Sysops, I do not want to debate with you anymore, you lack basic civility towards me.
I've removed a number of posts and edited some others. Could we please tone it down a bit? Some of the comments are becoming rather personal.
We're not playing "identify the laptop from the photo" - the purpose of the photos is to show that liquid was spilt on the laptop, nothing more.
The repair shop doesn't have to prove that it was like that, any more than your garage have to prove to you that you really needed a new head gasket. A certain level of trust must exist.
Higher res photos, even really high res film, would not prove that they didn't cause the damage at the repair shop, which is what you are suggesting.
Ok, but I really struggled to find a word to use instead of the one I did use. Would boob have been better?
My point was indeed that them pictures are not enough to demonstrate that ;
a) The motherboard is the one in question .
b) The brown mysterious gunge is only on the edge anyways and could indeed be sealing from the original factory .
or like i said the young lad who is feeling annoyed as his girlfriend left him and now the boss as told him to complete the back orders ,or he is sacked , so used a quick get out of work trick..
Maybe ???
Well, no, not really - that makes no sense at all.
Laptops aren't sealed together with dried coffee residue.
As for your "the young lad did it" idea, I really don't know what to say to that.
My point was indeed that them pictures are not enough to demonstrate that ;
Maybe ???
totally agree, Mr W could be posting any old pictures and we would be non the wiser ........
No i reckon he is an honest guy .. just looking for some honest and good LaptopHut service .. so i am convinced there genuine like the guy is..
I know Robert you say that no one could possibly have spilt something on your laptop - but can you say you have had it with you for 100% of the time?? Perhaps someone either family or worker or child, spilt a drop of something on it and thought they had dried it up and were either too scared or too worried to tell you??
It is possible unless you know where that laptop has been for 24 hours a day.
I know that before my laptops were encrypted that if one was around the house, I could come home and find one of my brats using it without asking and then denying they had used it etc.
I know what damage drinks do to laptops, I was that £80 customer of Marks at Comspec - and yes I thought I had got it all up and removed and yes the laptop did work for a while before finally giving up the goat.
Anyhow, I am rambling, - must be reading the others posters that does it for me - however, how on earth do you explain drink residue in your machine? I can't believe that the Laptop people examine pcs/laptops in anything other than excellent conditions ie no drinks, no fluids and no food and so forth - otherwise I am sure they would not survive long in the good old world on fixing things.
big point been missed is ........... he isnt a Laptop hut customer is he?
john Lewis bent over, Mike from the Laptop hut bent over but it`s still not enough for Mr "I want my 15 minutes of fame" W
its very telling how he`s happily letting John Lewis jerk him around - nothing to do with them having a big legal dept?
I am not a chancer, and no matter how many times you allude that you think I tried to cheat John Lewis and 'The Laptop Hut' it does not change the fact that I did not and I would not cheat them or anyone else.
What bothers me is that you seem to genuinely believe that.
But the whole purpose of this thread was to defame The Laptop Hut. Hardly fair, is it? Surely if you had a genuine complaint, you would have pursued it through Trading Standards or the Small Claims Court?
Explain to me how I defamed 'The Laptop Hut'? Point by point please. You can not support this. Mike from 'The Laptop Hut' had a full opportunity to reply here and he resorted to avoiding salient point I made.

We did consult Trading Standards. We followed their advise.
John Lewis decided to settle after we gave them a final opportunity prior to us being litigation.
I do not know what I am going to have to say to you. You seem to have a bee in your bonnet that I am not genuine. You must have the blinkers on if you can not see the obvious weaknesses Mike of 'The Laptop Hut's' appearance here.
But again, it is your problem not mine. I am being more than decent replying to you after your opening gambits were insult after unwarranted insult.
What bothers me is that you seem to genuinely believe that.
