Hi folks,

Ive just set up a Shropshire based business directory, mainly because our county hasn't really got a true dedicated directory site.

We offer free submission listings along with our paid for options to give businesses more exposure.

Just wondered what everyone thought of the site: www.shropshirelocal.co.uk

hi mattley
good luck wit the site mate hope it works well for you
I have had a look but did not find a section for me to list under maybe as it grows you will ad a few more sections for business

Hi mate thanks for the good luck message. To be honest there are a load of categories i could list but have preferred to list a core of 40ish and then take recommendations for others to be added from potential customers via the 'suggest a category' button.

If you let me know what category you would like to be listed under ill create it for you so you can submit your listing.

Cheers

As per previous thread, I would love to add my business to your directory, but there does not appear to be a suitable catagory for the moment . I appreciate the enormity of the task you must face in condensing every service and product that is possibly available. Maybe you could include 'Tool Hire' or 'Plant & Equipment' under 'property Services or an alternative heading. Please email back if you do. All the best for your new site and venture.

The only way you will be successful with this is by offering completely free listings for the first 12 months (without the reciprocal link), you need to bulk it out before people will advertise with you.

Hi, thanks for the category suggestion. A 'Tools, Plant & Equipment' category has now been added to the directory so please feel to add your businesses.

Thank you, I have now added my business. Though found it quite difficault to convey what it is we do in 300 characters. In order to poputale the directory quickly and give it substance why not give away promotional advanced listings including 'logo' to the first say '100' businesses that submit their details. Just a thought. Email me back if you do.

There are already completely free listing available without recip links needed ;)

accessoperator: there are no limits within the description feild, well there shouldnt be anyway as ive set the limit to 'unlimited' within my admin panel. If its showing a limit when you come to input the description then there must be a conflict somewhere and ill get that sorted out asap.

Blackberry: The activation codes are generated automatically by the backend software we use. Without sounding stupid, can you check that your code has been entered properly. If you have, and im asuming you're doing everything right, then again there must be a conflict and ill sort it all out asap.

Sorry folks but the site is brand new and as with everything we do have some teething issues which im doing my best to rectify before we launch.

In that case you may want to change the wording on your website then because it currently says this:

"Free Listings - £0.00
This is our basic listing and will list your business under the category/sub-category of your choice. Free listings contact all the basic information a visitor will need to contact you but has no direct link to your website. All we ask in return for a free listing is a reciprocal back-link to shropshirelocal.co.uk if you have a website."

I found this rather off-putting and confusing. How can the "back-link" link you are requesting be reciprocal if there is no direct link to my website?

Thats now been changed and the basic listing DOES have a link to your website.

Thanks for the heads up ;-)
