Shipping options for parcels over 2kg

Hi guys,

I've seen there is a pinned thread RE: shipping but the OP stated his parcels are under 1kg. This is not my case.
My parcels will range from 1-8kg.
We have spoken to DPD and Parcel force and got good rates which cover our weight and dimensions BUT they only offer next day delivery. We are planning to charge our customers 5.99-6.99 for next day and wanted a more economical option for 3-5 days.

However, this is proving very difficult. Royal Mail has good rates up to 2kg.... anything more and the price jumps up to around £15, they advised its cheaper to split the packages. (8kg parcel to one address split into four 2kg parcels). But I don't like the idea of that.

Does anyone get any advice?

Try some other couriers.
Or use some of the courier booking services such as P4D or parcel2go.

If using royal mail online business account and have multiple parcels with different weights it can work out using average weights.

Collect Plus (Yodel) will deliver parcels of that weight in that time scale for around £5.69.

Their service is not going to equal DPD, but you are offering a cheaper option to the customer. And despite all the excitement, their actual delivery success rate is not that different - what is different is the information you get, and the support you get if something goes wrong.

Or parcel2go, as mentioned above.

You don't save masses on the slower delivery for exactly the reason DPD don't offer it. It is not any cheaper to do, really.

What's the the parcel size?
Didn't Royal Mail recommend their RoyalMail24 service? - It can go up to 20kg and cost under £4 if it's within certain dimensions.
