Sending invoices - format

I am about to send my first invoice for recruitment services, does anyone have a standard form to use?

Excel has a template. I looked at that and based mine on that.

You might want to try www.kashflow.co.uk. You can use it for free for 60 days and it will create the invoices for you as well as lots ofd other useful stuff

Hi Reb

It depends on the version of Excel you're using.

Assuming you're using 2002 or 2003, ppen Excel and make sure the Task Pane is showing by clicking View then Task Pane. Under the heading New from template, click General Templates. That opens a box headed up Templates - click the tab labelled Spreadsheet Solutions and click Sales Invoice, then OK.

You can then personalise the template, accordingly.

When sending invoices should i include my omapnies bank account details or just expect a cheque. Im dealing with large companies and want to look professional as i think if they know you are a small biz they feel they can try and not pay etc

I would include your bank details as many large companies prefer to pay by BACS transfer.

If they do this it will be cheaper than cheque when bank charges kick in.

You don't have to include your bank details. But in order to get paid as quickly as possible we always list the different methods to pay at the bottom of the invoice, including bank details for a bank transfer.

As Alan said, some large companies prefer to pay by BACS. You'll also find many smaller businesses do too.

Nearly all my client's invoices are paid by BACS and I prefer to pay my supplier invoices that way, too.

I use Quickbooks (the babyest version). It cost me about £70, and it takes about 2 mins to raise an invoice and email it off - superb!

Before that I used excel, and it got a bit fiddly and messy.
