Hello there,

I want to start my own online tea business selling worldwide. Whereby i will buy the tea leaves online from wholesale suppliers. I won't be preparing anything rather just repackaging up the tea leaves in my own brand. The tea is unbranded and i have permission to package in my own container and sell on. But what sort of licence or legal requirements do i need to be aware of or know about before i start. :)

Any responses are greatly appreciated. Alfie

Needs to be safe to drink. You need to meet labelling requirements.
And you need customers.

Hi

An important question is will you be selling to businesses and/or consumers?

If you are selling online to consumers, there are certain rights that you must give them (e.g. returns) and certain information that must be provided. One way many online sellers meet these requirements is through their Terms & Conditions, although of course that is not the only way this can be achieved. A good resource to explain the information and rights you must give is the Business Companion website https://www.businesscompanion.info/

If you are selling to businesses, the law is not so prescriptive as to the rights you have to give them. So for example you don’t need to give them the right to return (unless there is a problem with the goods).

Hope that helps but if you’d like a no obligation chat please feel free to get in touch.

Maybe you could tone down your expectations to just one country to start with before going worldwide

There are obviously lots of competitors in that market, who have well established brands and each have massive marketing budgets, as well as tasting experts to make perfect blends for each market.

Presumably you have a large marketing budget to be able to stand out in the crowd
