Selling International Snacks

Hey guys,

I'm looking to start selling some "exotic" international snacks in my small local shop but I am struggling on where to find a supplier of these types of goods. I'm wondering where and how UK Wholesalers get these types of snack and would be greatly appreciated if someone could steer me in the right direction.

You are right, this is exactly what I am looking for, however, I would like to know where the UK wholesalers get their stock. I would like to purchase direct if possible.

"small local shop " and "I would like to purchase direct" are often not compatable. If they were, then wholesalers would not exist.

Buy from a wholesaler first, when you have significant volume you might get a hearing from the distributor.

Agreed. Unless you're planning to buy regularly by the container-full, forget buying direct.

If you go to some of the food trade shows you may come across UK distributors of particular brands or even small brands looking for retailers.
Some interesting food that you don't normally see in everyday shops get shown. Worse they can do is require bigger purchase than you are willing to make. They could be willing to have suitable retailers selling their product.
There was going to be a show next month, no idea if its delayed or not - but worth looking around.

My friends found suppliers precisely through the trade shows mentioned above. For small local stores, there is almost no way to negotiate directly. And this makes no sense if there is no constant high demand for certain goods.
