Yep....stop writing a script. Simple.

Research your products and services, research your clients then approach on a personal level...

Scripts are 80's style, double glazing, pre SFA insurance gubbins.

DONT USE ONE. Be informed and natural and solve their needs.

I'll second ITsoldUK's comments.

If you know sales, then get on the phone and find out all the important information. Then, you'll know what you're dealing with.

Good salespeople open relationship rather than closing sales - I know you've probably heard it before. But it's true.

Sales scripting is cold and certainly presents a one size fits all image/solution rather than a we're listening to you and responding with products or services that match your wants and needs.

Hi Emma,

Good luck with the new job. Well I would suggest you just write down a few points that you "must convey" instead of going by a script. It is a put off if the person on the end sound practiced. I have personally hated such callers. Just freestyle your way through it and be sure to maintain a friendly-polite demeanor :)

Selling advertising can be your first step into monetizing your website. It will require a lot of work and some strategy but once you have it going, you can literally sit back and enjoy incoming revenues.
