What is Schema.org

This site provides a collection of schemas, i.e., html tags, that webmasters can use to markup their pages in ways recognized by major search providers. Search engines including Bing, Google and Yahoo! rely on this markup to improve the display of search results, making it easier for people to find the right web pages.

Seeing a bunch of SEO articles emerging after the announcement of this agreed markup language across Google, Bing and Yahoo, going to be very interesting to see how sites with correct use of this microformat perform versus sites that aren't using it.

I wonder if wordpress will start using it, or whether they rely on the theme makers to wrap the correct tags around the appropriate places!

Standards? On the web? Impacting on SEO? Gosh, and here's me reading snide comments by electricians about HTML markup. pmsl

Read about this today when marking up some microformats on a contact page. I'm all for standards as long as the web gets on the same page and there's not vendor specific tags floating around. Good start getting 3 search engines to collaborate.

I wonder if wordpress will start using it, or whether they rely on the theme makers to wrap the correct tags around the appropriate places!
IIRC Wordpress already uses microformats by default (twentyten).
