Hiring an SEO expert that uses AI - Heads up!

Is it best to convert product selling pages do be more informational, or is it best to provide even better informationa pages, but then ensure they clearly link to your products?

If the AI results start appearing higher for search phrases that I would expect product pages too, I would concentrate more on targetting the informational pages
It's important to keep in mind that Google AI Search (SGE) is nowhere near developed yet and they are still refining the model. One thing that they have refined is the sites they use generate content. So generally, the AI result will only feature snippets and generated content from the top 10 organic results.

Product search, from the shared screens I've seen, are very focused on Google Shopping just as search is now. So optimising your Shopping Experience Scorecard and Click Potential rating are important. If you're running Ads with your Shopping campaigns, follow the recommendations and in particular AI Essentials to help rank in AI search.

UKSBD's expert analysis is right on the mark.

I agree that Google's decision to exclude AI-enhanced content from search results was a misstep. They misunderstood the distinction between content merely generated by AI from prompts and content that had been thoughtfully refined using AI tools for grammatical precision.

Their second mistake was overcrowding search results with sponsored listings, followed by highly SEO-optimised content before the user finds what they sought.

By contrast, SearchGPT's beta offers a search experience that is unparalleled, leaving Google to scramble to maintain its dominance in the search market.

Examining GPT-driven results, I find that they favour concise, straightforward language that delivers the message with minimal words.

This is why want to employ a dual strategy—one site for Google's algorithms and another for GPT's AI to reshape content into responses with direct links to the source.

I shared these insights to support those whose businesses depend heavily on organic lead generation.

So, I took a leap of faith and hired an SEO whiz. Their mission? To sprinkle some digital magic on our website, boost traffic, and send sales skyrocketing to the moon!

They did their thing, tweaking the site's content and sprinkling tags like confetti. After the revamped site went live, all seemed well until D-Day arrived, and our sales vanished into thin air faster than you can say "algorithm."

So there I was, sweating bullets and frantically dialling up the IT Avengers to crack this digital conundrum. And what did they find? Our SEO superhero had unwittingly summoned the AI apocalypse, churning out tags and content so artificial that even Google spat them out faster than a toddler with broccoli!

After hitting the panic button and rolling back to a previous version, we're now stuck in SEO rehab, trying to claw our way back up the search ladder.

Consider this cautionary tale a public service announcement: when AI meets SEO, proceed with caution, or risk disappearing into the digital ether!
Things are different now in 2025 with AI, people are looking to get ranked on LLMs

That statement makes no sense at all
It does make sense but I don't think it's true.

It means when you ask an LLM about products people want to be the one that's recommended.

But an LLM will just use a search engine, so it's stupid.

    Paul.
