Hi
We want to start a leaflet distribution business specialised on vouchers in Manchester (starting in Rusholme area).

Are there any of you who used a leaflet distribution company recently? We would like to know how much you paid so we can price our services right.

For the first month we intend to offer the service for a very competitive price. We will be able to give details after your feedback.

Any comment and/or advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks

We charge £40 per 1,000 delivered door to door in Liverpool, £50 anywhere outside of Liverpool. there is firms what charge up to £90. I'd keep it around the 40/50 mark.

I'd be insolvent at those prices. Then again I pay NMW for any work done, GPS track distributions and run the software you need to conduct proper demographic profiling as well as covering ALL my other business costs. 150 leaflets per hour (A leaflet every 20 something seconds) is a very good average for a distributor and that equals out to about 7 hours for a 1000 (£42 in wages). The firms that charge £90 can afford to charge that because they have the infrastructure in place to convince a client that they're reputable and professional.

What are you all basing this 1,000 in 7 hours on, not every job is the same, your all basing it Semi detached/detached homes with driveways, this isn't always the case. We have just completed a 50k drop in North Liverpool, breck road, anfield, scotland road, everton, county road area, 90% of these homes was terraced, 2k in 7 hours is easily done in terraced homes.

also as recent as Monday, i completed a drop for a kids learning school, there was only 500 flyers, all went out in The Dingle end of Aigburth. I did this myself in under 2 hours, actually 4 roads each with 135 on, i ran out on the last road, all terraced, no front gardens.

Even for the bigger jobs its different. Oh and i pay my staff per week now not per £1k simply because of the above reasons.

actually Edit, just checked my notes on me phone it was done in an hour.

started at Colebrook road finished at Rosslyn street.

You've just stated what we are basing it on, its an average and that average can just as easily shoot up in rural and affluent areas as it can shoot down in terraced inner city areas. We charge a price based on an average 7-8 hour spec as this covers us for variation, its called having a margin. The majority of my clients and the businesses they run don't really want to target inner city areas, they're after people with the largest disposable income to buy their products and services...the most common request we get is to exclude lower end properties, flats or council owned being the obvious contenders, namely the very ares quickest to deliver to.

I still pay by staff per hour as I always have done, my GPS system enables me to see how many breaks they've had, how fast they are walking on average and ultimately how long it takes to do 1000.

Any mug can compete on price. If you want to talk yourself out of a good profit then keep talking. I find it hard to take you seriously as a business person with the numbers being thrown about.

Best of luck for the future.
