Recommend a Comfortable Office Chair?

I am looking at this ikea chair for 50 quid and im tempted.

I've got the same chair Massey, in cream.

Its falling apart now but I've had it about 18 months... the leather is wearing through as its pretty thin. For £50 its worth the money though.

You've recommended it and others have so i think i'm going to buy this to be honest.

Put it together today, very good chair for the money.

It has a little bump in the back piece giving you support where you need it, and when you recline it moulds to your shape. A real bargain.

That's your business down the drain now then. You can either sit there in your super comfy chair or actually go out and do some work. With winter just around the corner I think I know which way the decision will go.

I've had this chair since 2011

It was a cracking buy. Only down fall of it has been that the black covering has peeled away due to wear and tear. It's still as comfy to sit on as the day it arrived.

I can sit on it for 12 hours straight and not have even a hint of back ache when i get up.

Sadly it seems the model has been discontinued because i'd buy more in a heart beat.

Over the years I have spent a fortune on chairs. Everything from high end draughtsmans stools (I did my apprenticeship as a draughtsman) through to the high end luxury desk chairs. None of them come close to the one I picked up from the bargain basement in Ikea six years ago. Cost me £50 down from over £100 - (It is currently £129)

It is as robust as they get and it is still going strong today (the leather is a bit worn but no other faults).

At home where I work 2-3 days a week we have a couple of leather swivel chairs, but I tend to use a gym ball.

Well below your £100 budget, and very good for your back and posture. Recommended by a friend who works from home who had a major back operation.

As Nuno picked up, this is a two year old thread, brought to life again by a first time poster who is attempting self promotion and will probably be removed.

Massey - the chair you like is made in enormous batches in China. Variants of it continue to be made, but different factories make them slightly differently, so they may not suit. Staples have 'Impetus' which is reasonably similar.

You are very lucky to find a chair with fixed seat/back and a simple tilt mechanism that maintains comfort and health for 12 hours!

Standing desks are fantastic if you can get them set up right, but the main focus there is the desk its self - unless you spend a small fortune on an adjustable desk it can be a faff to set up and get the ergonomics right. A fixed height standing desk just does not work in my experience.

As I said I used to be a draughtsman and I basically spent all day every day standing at a drawing board (occasionally half sitting / leaning on the stool/chair). One thing I found important there was a thick rubber mat on the floor. It made it lot more comfortable on the lower legs.

I currently have one of the old style traditional office swivels that has had its day, and is more than uncomfortable.

Anyone recommend a really comfy one? I can't tell looking on line which look the better comfort wise. Ideally i would like one of the leathery padded ones with side arms. Budget is about £100 max , after all it's only a chair...

I'm about 5'11 and i can sit on this thing all day and not get even a tingle of back ache.

With the verna there is a little bump in the back that nestles in sweetly to the bottom of your spine, supporting it.

As i say, cracking chair for the money. Just a shame the vinyl type stuff on it peels away.

Just looked on the ikea website as someone posted a link above, this one looks pretty similar to the verna and is even cheaper at £35 lol.
