I've got a couple of quotes for pl insurance and the cheapest i can find for £2m worth of cover is £102 that includes £1k tools cover
glazing and double glazing work
Is this cheap ?

Is this for one subcontractor?

I have no knowledge of the industry but for PL sounds cheap and you have tools cover!

I remember paying £52 a year as a sole trader (completely different business) and that was over 10 years ago so I would say with tools cover thats a good price!

yes I would say that is very cheap - it must be only PL and tools insurance. Does it cover other biz insurance - like loss of earnings etc? you might want to check exactly what it doesn't cover.

In all honest thaqt sounds a very good deal, i think the market at the minuite for that level of cover would be around the £150 mark.

As other have stated check the cover meets your needs, check there is no exclusions that might cause you problems, such as heat work, hight work etc

Thats about right. I pay about £50 - £55 for £1m of cover. Mine doesn't include tools or working at heights.

It may be an idea to increase your level of cover to the maximum amount (10m or sometimes 20m) I only say because if you want to belong to a reputable trademark of the industry like the ggf or certass you need a minimum of 5m public liability. Also if you are a self employed subby i believe you may need your own employees liability because technically you are the only employee. Not 100% sure on that one though.
