Hi guys - I'm doing PPC (google ads) on the following website: pestyman dot uk It's a pest control website and I'm targeting the local area of Aberdeen.

The problem I have is that there are many types of pest. I've split up each pet into a separate campaign and have a shared ad spend budget for all campaigns. Question I have - is this the best way to run a PPC campaign for such a site that covers mutliple keywords?

It could be, yes. That'd probably give you the best chance of a high CTR and better quality scores which will lower the cost per click. What may scupper the plan though are a large number of generic searches for 'pest' or 'pestcontrol' which will need their own campaign and Google will stuff you by giving you the clicks against your higher CPC broad matches.

I'd start off doing as you have done with fairly generous broad matches

so

One campaign or ad-group
+pest +mice
+pestcontrol +mice
+infestation +mouse

etc. landing you at pestyman.uk/mouse_pest or something.

then the same for rats, wasps, beavers, kardashians etc.

and a broad match group with pestcontrol, pest services etc with a lower bid than the specific campaigns.

Of course, this may not work in your market, you'd have to play with it, but that'd be my first attempt.

don't forget to add to your negative keyword list every day ( or every few hours!) if using broad match.

Without doing an Adwords Audit it's hard to say but quick question what are the ad groups you created for this campaign? How many text ads and are you split testing them ?

Really appreciate the comments. I've had no success so far this week with the campaigns. They are targeted but I get the feeling there just is not the search volume for the keywords I'm going after. I can't go after the most obvious keywords like "pest control" as the business owner is already got a campaign on these. Will report back next week with an update.

On another note - I have just started a new vlog series and running some highly targeted video ads from within inside youtube. This is working wonders - anyone have experience of placement targeting videos?
