If only I'd seen this post an hour ago! Just signed up with Postcode Lite grrr ...

The only thing I wonder is that a while back (if I remember correctly) LingCars had a thread about people being able to hijack people's lookup software from other sites and use their credits... I wonder if anyone knows how to stop this from happening... I'm going to ask PostCode Lite on Monday - but the suspense is killing me...

you can't stop people hijacking but you can make it tricky...

first thing to do is generate a hash with any form (a string of random letters and numbers) - then when the form is submitted, ensure that the hash submitted is the same.

that means they can't just ping your results page but have to scrape your form first and then hit the results page with the correct hash..

its dead easy to get around but it will put some people off.

after that you are into things like tracking IP addresses, also possible to get around but trickier..

there are other things you can do as well but for this kind of resource it wouldn't be worth the effort
