Hi Guys!!

I have a major problem that im hoping someone can help me with!!

I was with a customer earlier working on a project with them & spent about 2 hours working on photoshop cs4 saving as i went along! Then dreaded 'blue screen of death' popped up and restarted my machine!

Aftyer restart everything seemed fine until i tried to open the .psd and i get the error message saying its 'not a valid photoshop file'.

Does anyone know if i can open this up in any other application to resave and try to salvage my work??

I did try it on another machine just incase it was the machine i was on but the same message comes up!

**any help on this will be very much appreciated as if this is all lost then this is pretty much a whole days work down the pan:(:(:(**

No help for your current problem, but for future, what I always do is save the file with a new filename at regular intervals, eg robs-image-01, robs-image-02, etc, so that if there is a crash I've always got a previous version to go back to and haven't lost too much work.

Ditto, and if it's really important I'll email it to myself to get another copy off-machine. Sorry, I know it doesn't help with your problem, but it sounds like the file is corrupted so without a backup you're stuffed - it's always a risk wih PCs so you have to balance the time cost of regular backups against the time cost of this happening.

Thanks for all the help guys, unfortunatley i could not recover it, i tried different programs that can read psd's

Also a couple of 'psd repair' programs that couldnt do it!

Special thank to Invicta-seo for his help, what a top guy! He emailed me, asked me to send him the file, he had a go at fixing it but with no lock unfortunatley!

Never mind, im over it now - but an important lesson has been learnt!

Thanks again guys.
