I am in the process of starting / developing a new business offering a unique style of personalised clothing / merchandise. It won't be another 'I want to make millions from printing t-shirts' - although that is possible.

At present I can't fully disclose what I will be doing and what makes it unique. But I was wondering if any members here could offer any advice, perhaps you have been in the industry? know a bit about the industry? or if you have any general thoughts.

I am new, should you wish to read my introduction please check the introduction - I'm not able to post a direct link.

Kind Regards

Hope I may help.

I am a China-based agent specialized in clothes resourcing and merchandising, China should be a good place for you condisering importing the tshirts(in blank, then do the personalised print in UK). PM or contact me via [email protected] for anything about tshirt you wanna know, the styles, designs, workmanship, fabric, compositon, print, embrodery, package(labels), price, production, delivery, importing...

Kind regards

Many thanks for the replies,

The concept of my business already exists, however mine has a twist to it making it unique.

The customer selects the product they want, uses the online designer to customise it, they receive it within a couple of days.

@Rose Departure I will keep you in mind, at present I am in testing.

@SinGN Are you customers able to design their product on your website? What problems do you face? Do your customers demand for quick turnaround? Do you have many issues with the customers expectation of the finished product?

Hi, Brennerz,

A machine product named Tshirt Printer can perfectly solve your problems to achieve the the unique, printing on Tshirt just like printing on paper: professional quality, quick turnaround, no any requirment on customer's for design ability...

Hi Brennerz,

All sounds very exciting. I've just become a freelance designer. I've worked for the last eight years in house for a Babywear company who produces jersey product in India. I also design personalised prints on line and work with small dtg companies on personalised clothing.

Not sure if I can be of any use to your project but thought it might be worth dropping you a message in case.

Many thanks

Emma

Hi @3mma Many thanks for getting in touch. At the moment I'm testing the online tool and the product, soon I will be inviting around 20 people to test.

With regards to the personalised prints, is there a lot of interaction with customers adjusting designs etc? can you think of anything that might be useful to know?

Yes customers love to be able to personalise the designs - sometimes they come up with new suggestions that are better then the originals with regards to text. It also needs to be flexible - when words like 'mummy' for example are being used as there are quite a few variations.

Various software out there for this type of thing. Customer can pick product and design how they want. Once through checkout the artwork is saved as a printable file. This means that it is fairly easy to access this market as you can even have the printing outsourced. Will take a lot of work to climb the ladder and make a decent profit as so many also think they have something over the competion. Some do and might do okay but most fail. If you do find a niche it is hard to keep it to yourself.

@ADW Many thanks for the input - keep in mind that I'm not printing onto anything. It's more unique than that, it is niche. However, regardless of this I do understand the "personalised merch" sector is crowded so it won't be easy. In time I will of course let on to what exactly I hope to do.

@Chris Ashdown Many thanks
