Hi all,

2 questions really:

1. Has anyone tried advertising using outdoor banners hanging above shops or anything like that? I'm thinking of something which drivers are likely to see on a busy road, or something which passers by will see. The main idea to win my business some extra exposure, around 4m x 2m.

2. Can anyone recommend a business who can do this for a very good price?

Thanks for your comments,

Of course this is a good idea but be sure to remember some things;
Don't let it drown out your real shop sign
Clear and to the point
Put some attractive words on the banner "free" and others usually work.

Good luck.

Hi

this certainly worked for us when we started a car body repair workshop. After 3-4 weeks of opening we had a few customers but was quite difficult. We had moved into a workshop that had closed about 6 months earlier so knew there was a customer base, it was just letting them know. As soon as we put the banner up which was two feet width by approx 3 meters long, the customers started coming in and havent stopped since, this was nearly 3 years ago.

If you would like me to give you the details of who we used then PM me and i will be glad to do so.

Good Luck
James

I used a rather large banner back in 2008 " beat the credit crunch" was good at the time, outdoors good place is somewhere where traffic is slow moving, so anywhere on london is good lol

Make sure its printed on "outdoor banner grade material" and ask for it to be hemmed and eyeletted. You can then attach it with rope or cable ties. Get a simple message on it as big as possible.
you might want to use pavement signs and or banner frames for mre visibility.
shout about it.

Try and get it designed so it fits in with your existing signage I would say. As a customer, and admittedly a designer, I find a lot of banner signs can be off putting making a business frontage look less professional.

So it seems some of you are suggesting to just put a banner up any old place?

Wouldn't you run the risk of fines for doing this?

Although obvious, just remember it's the content (wording) that sells not the banner!! moreover never forget that it is there to increase your sales!!
Make it grab attention and promise your prospective clients a benefit but do keep the message clear, a lot of people try to get too many messages across which invariably gets no message across,
Good luck with it, i hope it increases your sales!!
Kindest Regards,
Paul.

One of the main things to remember when putting up an outside banner is to use colour fast colours, reds and colours comprising reds can fade badly making your new banner look very tired very quickly.
