My understanding is tax is due on any profit made, VAT is due on any sale made if you are vat registered and you therefore have to charge VAT to your customer.

If etsy.com is like most marketplaces it is simply providing a platform for you to sell to buyers. The sale is still between you and the buyer. Assuming you are a VAT registered and the products you sell are VAT liable and the person your are shipping to is a private individual within the EU then yes.

Hi there, as everyone states above, yes you will be liable for tax and Vat (if registered for VAT) on anything you sell online via whatever platform. If you are VAT registerd and new to online trading I would recommend going oin the flat rate VAT scheme as this will help your cashflow as you start to grow.
