Hello!
I am currently employed and have recently been invited to participate as a guest speaker at an event, which is a role outside of my regular employment duties. The organizers have requested that I invoice them for my speaking fee of £200. I have two questions regarding this:
Thank you!
I am currently employed and have recently been invited to participate as a guest speaker at an event, which is a role outside of my regular employment duties. The organizers have requested that I invoice them for my speaking fee of £200. I have two questions regarding this:
- Is it possible for me to issue an invoice for this service without being registered as a company or a sole trader?
- How should I declare this income to HMRC? I'm aware of the £1000 trading allowance that applies to additional income per fiscal year, suggesting I might not need to declare this payment if it's the only extra income I receive beyond my salary. Could you confirm if this understanding is correct or if there are specific steps I need to follow?
Thank you!
