Hey guys:) im at my wits end im trying to get an merchant account so i can accept payments online via credit cards.

Im in the legal high industry now i consult daily with several professionals to make sure everything im doing is above board as i dont want to end up trouble.

Anyway im at the point where i consider defeat all my competition have online stores and sell some products that i even deem "grey".

Anyhelp is appreciated and getting a good rate is vital too:)

Getting going is more vital than a good rate - you can fuss about that later.

True my friend, paypal have already closed my business account so no chance of that sadly.

All my products are UK legal and where i send too my competitors all have proper merchant accounts.

Why did PayPal close your account?

We have been using them since 2004, i do have the odd disagreement with them especially with their American support who can be dam right rude but the paypal pro team seam decent enough :)

They didnt like the products i was selling but they did let me get all my money out which was good.

If my competitors werent getting merchant accounts i wouldnt be surprised but im about the only one in my industry without and its starting to cause problems lack of sales and we really want to launch our identity

What do you sell exactly and what have you tried to get a merchant account?

Sell legal herbs such as salvia and other ethnobotanicals. All the chemicals are legal until there banned.

BZP was one but got banned for sale in the UK so thats gone.

I have tried so many places that deem to offer high risk merchants to even pharma companies that sell illegal things like valium.

I make sure everything i sell is above board but am getting no where sadly.

Ok im going to make an offer anyone who can either help put me in the direction or get the merchant account up i will pay big bucks as im going to end up losing more business.

Do you make unqualified medical or 'beneficial' claims about the herbs you sell? To say they are all legal until banned suggests to me that you are half-expecting your products to become banned in due course.

I suspect we have found out why trusted financial institutions (and PayPal) will not touch your business.

I dont sell BZP but that was the big hit during the time and now its gone.

I make no claim to what they do and sell as not for human consumption only for research purposes.

Can someone explain how competitors such as www.everyonedoesit.com have a merchant account.

according to their website
they use these as a payment processor
ww w secure trading . com and look to be a ltd company.
maybe you should try approaching them ?

And dont believe everything you read Quikshop - BZP actually has quite a few health benefits due to its anti-dewormer properties it helps kill bacteria, fungi, viruses and other protozoa. Alot of MD's and natural MD's believe this is the reason it was banned not due to its stimulant properties.

No offence intended, just pointing out what the facts are. The tone of your post was one of 'get in and sell while its legal', if that's not the case and you are providing dangerous products (recreactional drugs?) purely for research companies / people? then full power to you :D

Ohh yeah not saying that some dont have side effects buddy but then so does a cheeseburger:p.

98% of the products are legal and will be for life but there is that 2% that will undoubtley be abused and banned at some point.

Have you tried approaching Worldpay regarding their Junior Direct account? Merchant account and psp in one, they will hold onto your funds for 28 days processing as a high risk business, but will generally reconsider this once you have either £3k a month or 100 transactions a month going through your account.

No idea what restrictions other payment companies impose such as Google Checkout or Nochex (though I would imagine Nochex would refuse).

Salvia is a psychoactic herb with a chequered reputation, so I would imagine many payment companies would be wary, particularly those with strong US connections such as Paypal where most of the campaigning for its total ban has occurred and where it is banned in some states.

Yeah salvia is one of the troublesome ones merchant wise

I tried worldpay and got rejected sadly.

metta charge seem to have no bones about what you do
just do a web search
I know lots of guys running near the edge operations & doing fine with metta charge

This proven recored will be one where there are many transactions pcm or fewer transactions but with high value.

These transactions will also need to be made to the business and will not be accepted as a business transaction if done through personal accounts (within reason i.e. self employed but with evidence of business charges inc. invoices, receipts etc accounted by a qualified accountant).

Openmind, I will also need to contact you about a merchant account as I am looking for one myself.

Oh sounds like you may have trouble there. If paypal have refused/closed you, i think you will have difficulties in getting any merchant on board, but i could be wrong!

I think i may have got one sorted with a bank but i will phone you in the morning anyway on the possibility that it doesnt happen.

You're wrong there. Proven track record doesn't mean they will offer a merchant account. It is only one factor as is directors credit history, what you sell, how you sell, how quickly you send the goods out, whether you hold stock, plus many more.
