Marketing contact database suggestion - not cloud based

Im looking to build a new marketing database which will hold around 10K of contacts, text fields and needs to be exportable and importable back into excel.

I have used ACT! in the past but its overkill for this.

Any suggestions appreciated - I want a desktop based solution.

Will depend on what functionality you need. If you JUST want to hold the data (as that is all your post says) then why not just use Excel?

I need something more functional than excel that holds individual records.

Something like an older version of ACT! - which at the moment is my only option.

Have you looked at Sugar CRM - I used the community edition for a while - a few years back - I found it clunky but worked.

Since them I have been totally 'in the cloud' so can't help much further on standalone systems.

I purchased sales tracking software on Amazon for about £25. The company added some fields to it for me to suit our business. I can track sales by a variety of different methods

I use Really Simple CRM, it is cloud based but as the name suggest VERY easy to use, not like a lot out there and you can use initially for free. Only draw back is more records=more money. I have used Sugar, if you can still use it stand alone then worth a look
