Looking to start a cleaning business. Advise?

Hey i'm currently working as an account manager and i'm interested in starting a cleaning business as a way to earn extra money. I turn 25 this year and have no experience in starting a business so just have a few questions:

Can you earn good money part time?

Do you have to start off as a cleaner yourself?

Whats the best way to employ people and what would be the appropriate wage to pay your workers?

How long does it take to start earning a fair wage?

1. Yes and no.
2. No but you will be cheaper to employ than anyone else you can get. Its a good idea to know how to do something so can step in if cleaner cannot get to the job
3. Not sure there is a best way to employ people. If you want to employ them full time and only have enough work for part time then thats not the best. Appropriate wage depends who you ask, you have to pay at least minimum wage. Pay too little and they can get another better paying job and leave you short of a cleaner.
4 How much is a fair wage to you?
Its possible to earn a couple of hundred quid a week within a few weeks if its you cleaning and you aren't employing anyone - and you quickly get a bunch of jobs. If you do take on staff then ideally the work done will bring more into the business than they are costing in wages.

Good for you for wanting to start your business I agree with Mr D to start with you are best doing it yourself and when you have enough work then start employing people. When you employ people remember they will carry out your brand so make sure you get the right staff so very often a decent salary will attract better people. Good luck
