Hi,

I am currently trying to locate Restaurants, cafes, bars, etc, across the UK before they are open.

It's far easier to pitch to businesses that don't yet have suppliers already however locating them is proving to be quite difficult.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we could achieve this?

Thanks

The ONLY way is to reach existing chefs and bar-keeps, as these often go on to open their own places. Many restaurants are opened by people with money, but no idea what they are doing. Reaching these people is going to be impossible, as they don't even read the trade press or even know where to buy equipment. The cleverer ones ask their chefs and bar-keeps, so these people again are your key to market access.

You could talk to Nisbets about accessing new customer lists.

What's your budget? There are loads of companies that provide this sort of information but they are want paying. And the reason for this is simple, it takes a lot of time and effort to collate the information.

The budget is negotiable at the moment, depending on how much business we'd be expecting to get in. Do you know of any companies that provide this service?

The ONLY way?
Not really the only way, I used to get a list of companies from Scottish enterprise that were likely to incorporate in the next few weeks..
The woman there used to post me out a CD of companies

So my advice is find an enterprise programme and introduce your services as ideal for start ups..

Nearly all catering start-ups are sole traders and only incorporate later on. Sales of sinks and work surfaces can tell you who is really starting up.

You could also try contacting the various agencies for chefs, as cooks and chefs tend to only work in a place for a few months or even just weeks.
