Links from Yahoo, via Flickr

I have done a fair bit of research into getting external links from Flickr - which is Yahoos photo site and whether they will have any value.

I have discovered that when you upload a photo, you can add a link in the description, and better still the links are not 'nofollow'.

Take a look at this example:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/9645511@N05/714073369/

This could be a worthwhile tool from an SEO perspective.

Would appreciate any expert comments on this.

Copy and paste this into the description and it will give you a link:

<a href= www.yourwebsiteaddress.com >The Text You Want Goes Here</a>

I've mentioned this on my blog ages ago, but I suggested that people created a group, promote it, and you can link to your blog or site from the group.

I have a travel group with over 4,500 photographs uploaded and its one of my top 10 referrers.

Flickr is a great site to get some links from as it's easy to create them and they are not nofollowed, so they pass weight as a search ranking factor.

There's not much in the blog post, just letting people know of the benefit in creating a Flickr Group. Especially if the group is loading up photographs of your niche, i.e. in my case travel.

I forgot to mention I'm not sure if the group is no follow, even if it isn't I used this as a marketing tool to 1) increase my readership and 2) promote my blog to increase traffic. I didn't create it for SEO purposes.
