I have been with worldpay for 3 years but their payout takes forever now and fees are quite high. I integrated stripe along with wordpay on my site and tested stripe for 30 days. All good. Time to leave worldpay now.

Should I cancel my direct debit with them before I call and cancel. I heard horror stories about them. Currently there are some payouts coming but nothing major. Never had an issues on my account and never received a charge-back. Could they start withholding money?

I would say contact them first before cancelling the Direct Debit. If you have a contract with them with any minimum monthly fees and notice period then you should ensure there is a payment method to draw from for any final charges. If you call and speak to them they should be able to confirm the notice period, final charges and when these would be taken.

draw down the money, cancel direct debit and contact them to let them know you have cancelled and wish to pay off any monies owed and clear it.
Worldpay automatically transfer the the proceeds form transactions. Its not like Paypal with you having to withdraw the funds manually. When i used them the cancellation process was covered in the contract. They did not make any money grab.
If you haven't got any large transactions pending payment to you i would do as Totalwebsolutions suggests and just tell them.
