Bear in mins, its not just toner you need to buy with a laser. I have 2 samsungs, a small mono that was about £50, and a cpl510 colour which was about £200, and is definatly value for money - even has duplexing as standard. The print quality is immediatly noticable, the mono (cant remember the model but may well be the one already mentioned but not the network model) the print is crisp but I would call it very very dark grey and not black. The speed is ok, and the warm up time is excellent. It doesnt have a manual paper feed which is a pain, and it hates envelopes. I was impressed that the toner that came with it (this applies to my colour as well) wasnt the usual 50 pages and go shopping. If I didnt have the other pritner as well, I wouldnt have gone for a bargain basement printer but would have spent probably about £150 on one and probably not a samsung.
I wouldnt reccomend either of the above printers in anything other than a home or a small office but would imagine they would be fine for you. Kyoceras mono printers are most excellent as a rule but not as cheap - but remember - you get what you pay for (usually!)
