Jayde B2b Dir - now the biggest in the world?

Just read an advert for Jayde directory:

Get Your Site Submitted for Free in the World's Largest B2B Directory!

Any thoughts on this.. I was tempted to purchase an advert from them as their well-established.

I'd never heard of them. However,some easy checking reveals that they are as described though with high page rank (6), high traffic and good Alexa. However, it also shows that most of their success derives from India and surrounds. This probably explains my ignorance. Clearly if your aim is SEO then this may not matter but if it's UK traffic then perhaps they aren't as good.

In any case they seem to offer a free listing which I've taken up (so thanks for mentioning them) which then leads to registering for another SEO site which then leads to registering for another and so on.

You always say on here that seo is dead, link building is dead/impossible and the only point of a link is to get clicks from customers.

why would a customer crawl through a site like Jayde looking for your product when they can use google to search for what they want?

never, ever seen jayde come up in any searches I have done so by your normal logic it would be a waste of time and money

And you ain't going to get any leads from there. It's a crap directory that normal searchers will never find.

Buying paid directory links for SEO value is one thing, but expecting them to be a recurring source of traffic in the future? I'm guessing you've kept the horse and buggy for future transport....

People don't use directories as a starting point. They use them because the directory appears in organic search results. Directories are merely a meta-distraction... a nuisance on the way to finding what you're actually looking for.

Search engines and bookmarks get people where they want to go.

Don't listen to directory owners they are full of it, they make all these false claims about how good they are etc, when all they want is your money

You would have a much better chance of growing your business/clients/online response by using the following channels:

- media buying on websites that rank high on the first page for your main keywords
- having a professional video made to promote your products and services and then having this featured on youtube via adwords
- advertising on the google content network
- increasing the rankings of your website for local and national keywords by utilising seo.
