Italy: lessons to be learnt?

There's a bit of a hooha going on in Italy at the moment with Prime Minister Berlusconi accused of all sorts of shenanigans.

Today he is accused of offering an 'escort' lady a seat as one of Italy's EU representatives in Brussels.

Now, would she be any worse than Mandleson, or Kinnock, or any of the UK appointees? Could she be any worse than etc etc? Given the performance of the EU over the years probably not.

Perhaps we could gracefully retire 'working girls' of a 'certain age' into our national parliament too, and take advantage of their knowledge of how the world actually turns, and of human nature. Couldn't be worse than the shower in there at the moment.

Mind you must be better than the 600 odd non working girls we have now.

Maybe we get something else pulled up beside trouser legs.?
